Also a fan of electronic airbag suits. I have a Dainese D-Air Misano. If you want an electronic airbag, your options are basically Dainese, Alpinestars, and Mithos (uses the Alpinestars airbag vest).
Otherwise, all the major suit manufacturers work well. And you can use a tethered airbag vest, such as HitAir or Helite, over top.
The biggest thing is going to try out suits to see what fits your body type, or to see if you need to go custom. I fit Dainese cuts off the rack, but do not fit well in Alpinestars. Each person is different.

Come out to an upcoming AFM round and walk the pits. You'll see all kinds of suits. When you see scuff marks on them, stop and figure out which ones seem to hold up best. You may find the ugliest suit out there is the one that holds up best to a crash.

It all depends on your budget. If you’re willing to spend $2k+, then you’ll probably get a good product regardless of brand.
I’ve never been able to afford a suit of that cost, so I usually look for previous mode year stuff on clearance. Right now I’ve got a Spidi suit that I really like.

I 2nd that haha, 2k on a suit in any brand wont be wrong
From my experience I have really enjoyed my RST suit, best bang for the buck. When it happens I will let you know how durable they are lol
I have also worn AlpineStars (I recommend the higher end suits, they hold up better), and Pilot. The airflow in the Pilot suit I had was great, and freaking durable.
And thats my 2cents :thumbup

First year/ novice riders end up in off the rack suits. The more experienced riders trend towards custom stuff. For $1,200 or so, good custom stuff can be had.
Mythos and ACT are some the more used in California. Both are exceptional for the price. The benefit to custom is the repair options when you do crash. Off the rack suits can be more problematic and frankly, don't fit like a glove.
I moved from 12 years of Helimot's to ACT leathers and couldn't be happier. Andy Chung is in LA and does an excellent job, IMO/ IME. You've seen mine and Siglin's run around in them...good stuff so far. There is airbag options in ACT as well.

Meanwhile, the 99% that don't live in Berto's world are thinking what else we can spend $1200 on...my mom is making me a suit out of old leather fashion jackets...I'm that kid.

Not spending $1200 on a suit for racing is a good way to have to buy another after your first crash. Or to end up with some broken bones due to insufficient armor. Ya it’s an expensive sport. You already know that because a weekend of racing is $1000. So skip one weekend and buy a better suit. You won’t regret it.
old FEATHER jackets? That's gotta be worth $1300...I still have my old Frank Thomas (First) suit. The thing was an AWESOME buy...and has several crashes on it.
John's being T in C...he's been around the block for awhile....and ended up on the ground at times (SEEN IT!)
Now if only we could get him to enter more races...

Man I really suck at the internet if you had to explain that I was joking Berto.
I've crashed around some of the greatest AFM racers in the last 20 years in an effort to be fast like them. I have custom suits and off the shelf suits and hands down the custom suits seem to hold up better. But, now I have a body by IPA (this is a joke) and off the shelf works for now (that is real).
