Leaking helmets

I've got:

Scorpion 1000 ... leaks
Shoei RF1100 ... leaks
Arai Corsair V ... leaks.

WHADAFUG!? My next helmet will be a plastic bag tied around my throat... that'll show them!

I want advice from people who wear their helmets in a downpour for 1 hour, at least.

I'm not looking for the, "It rained for 10 minutes and my helmet never leaked so it never will" advice.

What are you wearing that doesn't leak. :mad

Aeroslash

Paddywhack
Scorpion Exo 500 Heritage...wore it in last Saturdays downpour for at least 4 hours.

No leaking whatsoever. My only piece of gear that passed the waterproof test.

my arai leaks, but i dont think you are going to find a helmet with a vent that doesn't leak. The vents even if they close are designed to be water tight. Most vents are just a slider that slides over a hole to block air, not seal it.

Which vent is leaking? maybe some tape?

I rode over an hour on the freeway in the rain this past weekend, my Shark Speed-R didn't leak. I also have a Shoei Qwest that I used all last season, not a single leak either. :thumbup

I have been caught in heavy downpour with my old Shoei Qwest a few times. Never leaked, even after an hour on freeway.

I now have a RF1200. I have only ridden it in light rain. So far no leaks.

My RF1000 never leaked and I wore it in both heavy downpour for >1 hour and light snow. Not sure what's up with your RF1100.

I now have a GT Air and it hasn't leaked yet, but I was only riding in the rain for about 15-20 minutes so far. Not my favorite thing to do when I don't have to.

Been awhile since I rode in the rain but I don't remember my Bell Star leaking when I commuted in the rain just my overpants.

My X-11 has been good for several 2+ hour downpours. Not sure I would have cared much if it leaked a little, because by the end, everything else was wet.

My GT Air has been kickass. You have to close all vents, when I do there are no leaks. The problem then becomes fogging. Luckily it has a pinlock.

I have ridden through considerable rain recently and have had no leaks and no fogging. I am happy with the helmet.

My last three helmets. All worn in heavy rains / commutes and trips out of state with real rain.
RF1000 no leaks.
Arai Profile no leaks
AGV Horizon no leaks.

If you're talking about the top vents, for around the visor yeah they all get wet inside unless I had a good windscreen on the bike.

Some electrical tape over my front vents in the winter = no leaks.

Shoei X12....lots of ventilation going on lol.

ETA - I didn't need the tape until my helmet was used for a year or so - the first winter it was fine, but then too much opening/closing of the vents would let in a little water after awhile.

When I go slow, I go fast
My vents don't leak, I ride with them open to prevent condensation. When I get leaks it is from the faceshield gasket.

My problem is my chin. If there is enough standing water for cars to kick up a mist, my chin soaks it all up.

+ 1 for Shoei Qwest, +1 for Shoei RF1000

when you say it "leaks", what exactly is getting wet? Not wearing a jacket with a tall enough collar is often mistaken for a leak when water is pulled onto the neck area.

Face shield gasket... this is the one I have.

My vents are good.

I've watched the rain dribble down the inside of my shield... eventually making it to my brow... :mad

I think I know what Santa will bring me for christmas... probably early. :teeth
