LEAD DRAFTSPERSON JOB DESCRIPTION
SF Metalworks is a high-end custom metal fabrication shop specializing in ornamental architectural metals in
residential and commercial environments. We design and build bespoke furniture, light fixtures, cabinetry, railings,
countertops, awnings, arbors, doors, kitchen hoods, and more. We are a small but growing creative team that brings
unique projects to life using both modern CNC technology and traditional fabrication methods.
We are looking for an experienced and creative Lead Draftsperson to join our team to help bring these unique
projects to life. We are currently seeking someone to fulfill this position part-time with the potential for it to develop
into a full-time position. Hourly wage will be commensurate with experience. Interested parties should submit a

preliminary aptitude assessment may be required.
Our office uses Rhinoceros 5 for 3D conceptual modeling as well as design drawings for clients. Extensive
experience with Rhino for both 3D modeling and 2D drafting is required.
We use Autodesk’s Fusion 360 to develop mechanical models in preparation for CNC machining (we run a CNC mill
and lathe in-house). Design and drawing coordination with our programmer / machinist will be required on some
projects. Experience with Fusion 360, AutoCAD, the Adobe Creative Suite, and Excel are a plus.
The ideal candidate for the Draftsperson position will have 3-5 years of experience producing quality shop drawing
sets, have extensive hands-on fabrication experience (experience with and knowledge of metalwork a plus), and a
high degree of mechanical aptitude. We are looking for a self-motivated and passionate individual that can follow
directions, work both independently and in teams, who possesses strong time management and organizational skills.
As a key contributor to our team you will be responsible for:

must be a team player able to set aggressive yet attainable goals that are measurable, and that contribute to the

- Using raw conceptual design drawings and redlined hand sketches prepared by others to produce highly detailed, coherent, fabrication drawing sets for the fabrication team to work directly from.
- Creating BOMs, cut lists, specifying hardware
- Critically analyzing designs and identifying and resolving problems in early phases of the project
- Developing and implementing drafting standards and procedures
- Managing and tracking time in a fast-pace environment – the ability to switch gears quickly and productively
is critical as you will be involved in multiple projects concurrently
