Anyone had Laser Eye Surgery???? If so where did you get it done, and if you don't mind how much did you pay for it. I am thinking of getting it but wanna get some opinions first.

The wife and I both had it done. I when to the Aris Laser Vision Institue and saw Dr. Scott Hyver. I'm very pleased with it and the experience was rather pleasant. I do have a slight light sensitivity and I do see slight halos at night but both of these are reduced compared to what I experienced when I was wearing contacts. I also see better than average now at approximately, 20/15, which is pretty good considering I was at 20/200 I think. The price was pretty reasonable too, I think it was about $1400 for both eyes.

My cuz works with lasers.

He's waiting on the long term effects.

personally, halos would bug the shi*sickle out of me. I already have bad enough vision at night.

I got it done in January and LOVE the results. My night vision is not the best (it wasn't all that good before either).

I totally recommend Dr. Scott Hyver (www.scotthyver.com). If you have VSP insurance....they cover about 2% of the cost.

Send me a PM if you want more info.

I would be very hesitant to have lasik done due the the horror stories about halos at night, dry cornea and other complications.

If you really give a shit about visual acuity then lasik is probably not the ideal solution.

If on the other hand ultra sharp vision is not a priority and you have a high tolerance for semi-fucked up eyes and are willing to live with a lifetime of potential issues then such procedures could be a real win.

I personally was very interested in such procedures until I read of the side effects. Being rather anal about my vision it did not take me long to decide that the downside risks were larger than the inconvenience of wearing glasses.

Research well before going in anywhere....

I had mine done about 2-3 years ago and I think that it was one of the best things I have ever done. From the first evening I was able to see the clock without having to squint or pick up my glasses.

I forgot which doctor did mine but I have a few friends go to him afterwards all with very good results. Unfortunately, when I had them done it was still quite expensive (~$4000 for both) but it was definitely worth it.

..Oh yeah, it was Dr. Furlong.

I have nothing but positive things to say about Dr. Furlong and his staff.

One of our VPs had great results, the other now has some sort of double vision.

I'm waiting until the USAF clears some sort of procedure for fighter pilots before doing anything permanent. And if that's never, that's fine with me. :)

Caveat emptor! Do your research ... which you are, so I'll STFU now.

I had mine done about 7-8 years ago in Manila, Philippines. Laser eye surgery wasn't known and popular yet back then, so I got mine cheap or less than $1,000. Up to now, my eyes are still (L) 20/15 and (R) 20/20. (I try and do yearly check-ups on my eyes.) Compared to when I was wearing eyeglasses, my grade went up EVERY year. I didn't notice any night-halo-bad-vision thingy until became aware of it when I watched a report about it on TV. I think, my halos at night are very slight. I have always thought I had always had them even when I was wearing glasses. That's why I never noticed it until somebody pointed it out. Doing the laser eye surgery was the best thing I had ever invested in myself. It is worth every penny. I know it's stupid, but you get to appreciate the little things one takes for granted like... It's kindda nice taking a shower and I can see the shampoo bottle infront of my face... Watching TV on my side without glasses... Taking a swim on the beach or in the pool and not worry about my contacts popping out... Seeing the details of every leaf of a tree from far away... No more dry, itchy eyes coz my contacts as been on for more than 8 hours...

My boss had it done at Turner Eye.

He had some problems but got them sorted out. Don't know how much he paid.

He has the star/halo effect at night. That would bug the hell out of me so I'm sticking with contact lenses till the coroner hauls me off, it only take less than 3m inutes a day to install/remove my contacts.

Good luck.

The whole corneal flap thing freaks me out.I spoke with a client who's a doctor and he's staying away from the procedure until they find a way around this.He said in layman's terms,it's like taking a cheese grater to your eye.

Kelly and I have had our eyes done last year. Just had my last follow up appointment today and my vision is still better than 20/20. We both have no problems or regrets. We had the surgery done at Pacific Laser Eye Center in Danville and I would highly recomend them.

How many fingers am I holding up? :twofinger

I, too, am waiting for the long term effects, as well as other correctable/reversible options like Mackey mentioned.

i had it done 2 years ago for $1500. My sight was so bad (almost legaly blind) that the small risks were worht it. I am a very active person and do not regret it one bit. No halos, or other side effects and i now have 20/15. i will need glasses at around 35-40 years old, but i was already wearing ciontacts. So in the end this surgery bought me 15 years of great vision. Just do your homework on it and you will be alright.

I had it done last august, so its been a year. Had it done at laservue in mt view. It was a quick 5-7 minute procedure. The next day for the follow up appt i rode there! 20/20 the first day, one month later 20/15! Year later i still have the 20/15. Not bad at all! Better than normal eyes! It was quite expensive but they have all the newest tech. including wavefront. Wavefront is still the same procedure, they use the same type of laser i believe, but they have a lot more readings to get information from and can customize your eye completely! This technology was just taking off last year so i unfortunately didn't get it :( I think it was 2200 for both eyes or 2400.

Just a quick thing to think about, how much is your vision worth? I think the best most experience dr. around here is dr. keyewesh (dont know how to spell it) at the silicon valley eye center off of saratoga ave and 280. He is also one of the more expensive however he's done lots of eyes.

I'm still in a holding pattern concerning eye correction. already did the initial lasik consultation last year. I'm nocturnal mostly too :p so night vision is tantamount to success. will look into that wavefront info more.

wavefront wont fix the halo's. Let me tell you they are not that bad. And now a year later they are almost compeltely gone, and driving at night even with my tinted visor is not an issue. It should not be a determining factor in your choice.

anyone who is thinking of getting it done should watch one of those discovery channel type shows that show you the process being done so that you know what youre getting into.

and what the hell does everyone mean by halos?
