My wife and I haven't been to Tahoe in donkey's years. Any recommendations for Covid 19-safe place to stay? No, we're not going camping.:rolleyes

As far as I know, the private rentals up there using a cleaning service have had to start using the deep cleaning service and can no longer use the basic turnover cleaning. I'd just get on airbnb and proceed as normal, though I'd want an independent house/cabin and not a condo/townhome complex type of deal.

You said no camping but that is the safest COVID-free vacation I can think of. Sliding down the scale a bit would be to rent an RV and find a campsite. Of course you’d want to make sure you’re renting from a dealer, not an individual, so you can have more assurance it’s been properly cleaned. Also pick one that hasn’t been used in over a week to let any potential viruses die.

Not sure why this is news now, other than its a ridic headline to add onto the 2020 bingo sheet.

Squirrels carrying Bubonic Plague have infested Camp Richardson in South Lake Tahoe for decades. I think I first saw those signs camping there in the summer of 1991.

Because someone died (i think) and they had to shut a bunch of parking lots down to decon?

I call bs on required deep cleaning of STRs.
The place across the street from me has had back to back rental turnover all summer. Out with the old and in with the new, same day, with large groups 3-6 cars every time.
But i am in truckee.

I wouldn’t count on anyplace getting anymore cleaning than it ever has. Humans are lazy and cheap, deep cleaning costs money that eats into the bottom line.

I'd wait for a less busy time. All the tech bros from the bay are fleeing to Tahoe and buying up property, in addition to the summer crowds they're experiencing on a near daily basis.

Thanks for the replies; we will wait until late next month or early November. A friend whose family has a cabin and house there pinged me and offered us the cabin. We have stayed in both; the cabin is in Tahoe City south of 89.
