Cow Mtn and Middlecreek OHV's burning:(.
Here's a pic (today) from Penny Pines where trail 10 crosses the road...doesn't look good.
I love having multiple riding areas close to my house, but in the last year Cow, Middlecreek, Indian Valley and Knoxville have all burned! :(

Definitely bummed. Just got a bike for the coming season. Now everything is burning, and will probably be closed for a while. There's always Knoxville, but that place is terrible.

so sad so many lost their homes...

I have to wonder if the old "Firewatchers" on those hilltop towers were still around, some of this could have been avoided? (gov't cutbacks discontinued them.) :rolleyes

Resources have been stretched to the max. At one point they were out of fire retardant, only had 2 planes, and 129 personell on the ground fighting the Ranch and River fires.
The big 747 broke down hopefully they get that puppy back in the air soon but it looks like the Mendocino forest is being sacrificed.

I see a whole lot of volunteer work in our future.

Knoxville burned 2 years ago ..and possibly some more in the fire last month...but they never closed it to riding. I went out there a couple times since the last fire and found some nice trails that I never knew about (they were hidden by the overgrown brush). I'm hoping they keep Cow and Middlecreek open too! If not, I'll be driving to Stonyford:thumbup.

I don't think they would have done much good anyway. With all the dry overgrown brush and dead trees that haven't been cleared because of stupid policies..these fires grow out of control before resources can get on the ground. It's crazy how fast they move and the intensity is like nothing we've seen before.:(

What bike did you get?

I bought a very scummy 03 yz125. That was absolutely beat up beyond belief. Ive been working on it slowly since April. I haven't even rode it yet other than up and down the street. Was finally going to go to Penny this weekend. Obviously, that's not going to work out anymore.

Taken from Skaggs yesterday. Looked like a volcano erupting. Really sad.
