Ktm 300exc water pump impeller questions.

Hi guys. It's been a while. Went out for a mud blast yesterday with a couple buddies and had a few issues with the 05 300exc. First off it started leaking oil. Thought it was going to be the countershaft seal again but then realized it was coming from the inner clutch case gasket. The day was almost over so we continued on and at some point on a steep slow section she boiled over. Limped it back to the truck and today when I tore it apart I found that I didn't have any fins left on my plastic impeller. What's the difference between the 07 up impellers vs 06 and older? Most of the billet ones I see say for 07 to present. The impeller on the slavens website says theirs fits like 97-16 ktm 300s.

Also while I was in there I found my oil leak was caused by a blown out gasket where a locating down was SUPPOSED to be but previous mechanic decided it served better stuck to the drain plug magnet...lol. on top of that I had a clutch steel broke in half. Clutch worked great like that too. All this because I wanted to fix an oil leak. Lmao!!!

I got nothing for ya, but I've heard the folks at Slavens are awesome, I'd give them a call.

Wow, that impeller isn't dong much for you, lol. I sprung for the billet one in my 300. Not only will it obviously not end up like that one, but it's also a better design and moves more water.

Some of the later model 300s were having serious leakage issues with OEM clutch gasket, the paper was tearing/moving; there is a metal gasket to replace (may even be OEM now) that also puts the clutch case a little farther away from the motor (some of the hubs were rubbing the cover). Not sure if this affects your year bike but the metal one is nicely re-usable. Impeller could go either way, stock works but can strip like yours. Good thing that case pin stayed low in the case.....coulda' trashed all sorts of stuff if it got in the wrong spot.

Supposedly the cometic gaskets are the solve sll cookie so that's what I ordered. My local dealer had the stock plastic impeller in stock for $6 so I just went with that. I might order the $29 billet one from eBay just to see if it will fit. My theory is the only thing they changed was the shape an number of fins. All the bearings and case parts are the same. If not I'll sell it to somebody with a 07-up 300...lol
