Knocked over Late Model Ninja Fell and Buchanan

Came home tonight and saw your red Ninjja (600 I think) parked on Fell and Bucanan lying on it's side. I couldn't leave it like that so I set it back up right. Damage seemed minor, broken turn indicator. Hope that is all.

Good for you for picking it up as I disagree about not doing it but I also would leave a note saying that I helped out

be thoughtful/kind to another human as you did. :thumbup easy enough to leave a note if possible.

Why is it when I read posts like this, I am time warped and I loose like 30 minutes and I have no idea where I was or did? Baffling

Even though you have good intentions, do not pick it up. No good deed goes unpunished. You'll be seen touching it and be blamed for knocking it over.

I fail to understand why anyone would prefer to have their bike on it's side, possibly for hours. Less visible to clueless cage parkers, leaking fuel, and leaking oil into the airbox. I'll take Upright for $300 Alex.

Agree, it's already down and damage is done. My guess is it fell over due to the stronger than average wind yesterday but the owner may disagree try to blame the good Samaritan.

Sadly, that's the practical viewpoint. If you're gonna do something I'd say try to find the owner.

Problem with leaving the note is that you can't be sure that it'll still be there when the rider comes back to the bike. I say leave it down. It ain't gonna get hurt any more than it is and at least the owner will know that it's happened.

Compelling arguments can be made on both sides. Lifting the bike and leaving a note urging the owners inspection seems the most logical....at least thats how I'd like my bike to be treated.
That said, I wouldn't want to be seen standing there writing a note either (an implied admission of guilt).
I'd still be inclined to get the bike off the ground and let karma sort out the details.

Hmm, good points, oops, probably should have left it alone. I didn't bother with a note due to the rain, but if the owner blames me (might live in my building) I'll buy a new turn indicator. Also its an older ninja 250, might a been a little drunk last night...

a couple years ago my bike was knocked down by someone parking by Braille. Someone righted it AND put it on the sidewalk, I was impressed since it had a disk lock and steering lock. I was annoyed but glad it was upright.

Sign me up for this camp.

(Back in '89 my Eliminator spent at least four hours lying on its side. Gasoline, oil, and coolant all over everydamnedthing, plus battery acid spilled onto the harness...it very much sucked.)

This. If my Triumph RS falls on it's left side, I am well and truly fucked (because of oil leakage into critical areas) if it's not picked up almost immediately. I would leave a note after picking it up, but I rarely carry physical pad and paper any more. Everything is now put into my phone.

The concerns are fuel spill, battery acid spill or both. Speaking for myself, I would appreciate it very much if someone pick up my fallen bike and leaves me a note. I would always believe the person that he is not the one who knocked it over, especially if he is a fellow biker in his gear. Ok, I am going with a gel battery next.
