Knee Sliders

...or pucks, depending on your favorite vernacular.

So as I waited for my tires to be mounted today at Cycle Gear I searched high and low for pucks. Finally a sales person showed them to me, hiding back behind a display where they were completely non-obvious.

They had two: the titanium and the rainbow ones that change colors as you wear them down.

I'm probably going to head over to Road Rider to pick up some better ones, since the pucks on my Spidi suit are soft as butter and won't last the day at the track (or so I believe).

Are the titanium pucks the one that thow off all the sparks? They'd be cool as hell for taping up on 9/84 but I don't think they'd be all that great for the track. I thought someone once said they are possibly responsible for some fires??

Also, the rainbow ones, I'm guessing, are probably pretty soft as well. I'd rather spend my money on something that'll last. I have some Teknic pucks that I use on my textile pants and will probably bring those, but ideally I want to pick up the big-ass Teknic sliders that supposedly last forever.

from what i heard the sparkies (aka titinium pucks) aren't allowed on the track just cause it's just another distraction and screws everyone up cause they think you're going to crash. also heard they don't last any longer than regular pucks.

my pucks are still shiny new. hopefully not for long after t-hill.

We all should get some of the Ti pucks and drag a camera out one weekend, like the East Coast guys that put together the Lean Angle video on SBN. :cool

I've had my Wiz "Bushfire" sparkies on during my last few track outings and nobody said a word (I also witnessed a couple of other riders with sparky sliders, so I wasn't the only one!) I can bring them back out for a Hwy 9 taping of you'd like, when I return from GA next week.

Ravi and I were behind you coming down 5. I like the way the spark stays lit long after you've left.;)

Come to think of it, I noticed that when I was passed by some freak on an R1 w/ pink leathers. It couldn't have been Hooligan 'cause his bike's red and this one was blue. :twofinger

He left a trail of sparks that took a while to "expire". I was so fast that I just swept them up and put them in my pocket as I went by. :D
