kids threw waterballons at me today. What now?

I was on my bicycle and kids threw waterballoons at me. Missed me, and the lady following them got their license plate and I reported them to Danville PD. Danville PD went to the residence and talked to the parents. Girl driver is probably in big trouble with her parents. Deputy left a message and said he would update me with any info, but it didn't sound like any citations would be issued.
What are the kids guilty of?
Should I pursue it or let it go?

hay Charlie! i think since they missed and the PD is involve, just let it go. now if you got hit, that's a different story.

The kids will either be cited to wc traffic court, county juvenile probation or Danville PD may still have a juvenile diversion program.

Did the Danville Deputy find out WHO threw the water balloon?

Contact Danville PD if you do want to follow through, but if you weren't hurt (and now that they are ID'd) you may just wanna call it a draw.

I will call back Deputy tomorrow

And just do whatever he suggest. His message conveyed the feeling that parents were genuinely concerned and very pissed.

Would like to see the brats spend their summer weekends picking up garbage on the freeway though.

Come on man, it was a water balloon. No need to get vindictive over that. Maybe if they were throwing rocks or something that might actually hurt you there'd be reason to. But getting a little wet on a warm day? I highly doubt they were doing it to try and hurt somebody. Let it go.

Walnut Creek PD caught me and my friend at Broadway Plaza throwing water balloons from the top of their parking garage. They threatened to arrest us for assault. Cop detained us until my dad showed up and yelled at them for waking him up and making him come and pick us up. The security guards banned me "for life" from Broadway Plaza.

I kind of thought the same but...

If I'm cruising along at 20mph and they are driving at 40mph and they bean me with a couple of good size water balloons, it's probably going to knock me off my bike or send me to the shrubs on the side of the blvd. A crash at 20 usually means a sprained/fractured wrist or maybe a broken collar bone. Pretty serious consequences from a prank. And it's not like some kid just threw the last few bites of his burger at me(have had that done too). They went and filled up balloons. I think this might have been premeditated.

If it were me, I'd like to see them punished. Like you said, if you got knocked off your bike, it could lead to a not so funny injury.

fuck em. that is assault, plain and simple. they can be held both criminally and civilly liable. there's no reason they should get away with that shit, if they'd hit you, you'd be seriously injured. just because you weren't doesn't make them any less guilty of assault, it just makes your damages less.

honestly, i would sue them, collect under their homeowner's insurance and donate the money to a charity that promotes bicycle safety. they can in turn collect from the passengers in the other car. it won't end up costing them much each financially, but it will teach them all a BIG lesson.

always looking up
I was walking home from a dance when some drunk seniors threw water balloons at me and my friends.

I was later choked by one of said seniors waiting for a ride at the 7-11 near the school.

Some things may be harmless, but its better safe than sorry.

chocked by some kid? Why not give the damn kid a beatdown, teach him not to mess with other people. If some punk high school kid pulled that shit with me, I'd probably be in jail for beating the shit out of a minor

I am mixed on this one. If they were kids (I know to old geezers, kids are anything less than about 3 years younger than you) aged 15 or less and threw balloons from their yard/clubhouse/garage and then ran...Well then you are simply a victim of childhood! IF they were 16-21, just be glad they weren't eggs, paintballs, or some messy form of prank. But for crying outloud it is still Childhood! The fact that they were reported to the police and the parents were contacted is enough in my book. If you had crashed into some bushes trying to dodge their water balloon...NOW that would be funny, and their mission would have been a success. You should have been quicker on the draw and got your water bottle out and hosed em down!
