Karting Championship Fight

Anyone see the fight at this weekend's Karting Championship in Italy? The son of the owner of the track is crashed out by another driver, and he retaliates by throwing his bumper at the driver. After the race both he and his dad attack the other driver in the pits.

Both are likely to be suspended by FIA for life.

So many youtubes of parents and coaches of "little league" sports getting physical because they don't like the outcomes it's just more piling on. The intensity of sport across the board has gotten so that the drive to win is overly high even at the lower levels. What we used to only see occur between adults at the highest levels has now percolated down into the juniors.

I'd like to see the incident that brought this on. Can't find it. Anyone got better Googlefu?

Negative, ghost rider. A fan may have captured it but it doesn't appear to be available online right meow, if ever.

"...Corberi and Ippolito were both disqualified from the race over the collision, which was not shown during the race.

The stewards ruled DRG driver Ippolito “could not avoid to make contact with driver 61 [Corberi] and following that action forced the driver 61 to retire.” However he was found to have infringed the Code of Driving Conduct on Karting Circuits concerning collisions between competitors.

The official race classification notes Corberi was given a “disqualification from the competition for a (very) bad manoeuvre” under Appendix L, Chapter IV article 2(c) of the International Sporting Code, which requires driver to “use the track at all times”.

Funny how go-kart racing is taken so seriously in Italy.

it's still racing, and competition. there are peeps that take it seriously in the US too.

the bumper tosser doesn't look like a kid to me. not that i disagree with your observation. gokarts are typically seen as toys in the US but the fact is that they're potentially very fast, and some absurd percentage of F1 drivers started on gokarts. [insert rumor]ayrton senna had a gokart track in his backyard[/rumor]

A 125 shifter kart is no toy. They are by far the most violent thing I have operated (I've broken a rib from normal cornering forces) and require a high level of mental fitness to operate precisely. They make liter bikes feel like harleys. The guys that drive at this level are some of the best in the world. Every single F1 driver on the grid raced karts at this level, and some return to it after driving cars. Rubens Barrichello makes routine appearances on the pro tour here in the states.

Its Dethklok!
Anyone remember the AMA race when Yates got taken out and he got soo pissed that he threw gravel onto the track then laid down on it? I don't agree with it but I can see why it happened.

And they a fucking fun as hell...!!! OMG.

Amazing how physical they are... wiped this OG out a few times.

A local Family I know has been all in for a few years. Dad won the OG class and kids continue to succeed with the oldest son now doing formula Atlantic.

The meltdown driver was 23 years old, and beat (racing on track) George Russell and Lance Stroll for a Karting World Cup when he was 15.

Schumacher's dad owned a karting track.
