Last week Wendy and I attended Keigwin's Novice School for the second time. We attended this same school last year too. I was at first a little hesitant in going, as I'm definitely not a novice to the track. The first day, I endured a few jokes from the instructors because I was the last person they expected to be there.
However, we both found new things to work on and learned much from the one-on-one instruction sessions both times we took this school. We both thought that the instruction, while very good before, improved even more this time around. There were a few questions regarding some of the more advanced techniques like trail-braking, which was answered precisely yet not in too much detail. It was also discouraged for this school despite some of the talented students there.
I feel that the added classroom session on bike modifications was outstanding. It was good that Jeff Viets co-presented with Lance the instruction for that session, but even better that Zip was there to answer some of the questions. It definitely answered questions that a lot of new riders ask about modifying their bike.
I highly recommend Keigwin's Novice School to anyone thinking about getting on the track or even those with a lot of track experience. It seemed that everyone had fun and learned a lot, many showed dramatic improvements on the second day.
Special thanks to Paul, who taught me the differences between litre bikes and 2-strokes and how to go faster with each. And to Simon who towed my R1 up there. :thumbup
