After a lot of time, a lot of reading, a lot of youtube, I finally decided to pick one up. Was going to wait a few weeks for a 2021 from a local dealer. Then I found out they'd be made in China and that kinda soured me on the idea.
(no offense to China)
So I did a search and found a couple in Oregon at Power Motorsports.
Called them up, super easy transaction.
$10,999 out the door!
No set-up fees, nothing added.
Having it shipped for $300 by motoshippers.com

Should be here Wednesday.
Obviously I'll be paying DMV their cut.

Don't know why the hate, KTM is building a new plant that increases production. For current and future KTM owners, this should be a good thing representing growth (esp. in this current economy). They still have their Austrian plant that focuses on the 1290 lineup.

Welcome aboard the USS 890Duke! You won't be disappointed. I love mine. They just earned the 'Best Bang for the Buck' award and it's well deserved. I just ordered the WP Apex Pro rear shock, valved and sprung for my weight and ability, and it should be here is a few weeks. The stock shock is great, but the Pro has easily adjustable ride height and sag, for quick adjustment at the track.

Human rights is enough my friend. We don’t want to get political. ;)

First off, congrats on the new bike Haywood.:party

Wondering about a couple things.

I though the 890 duke R was "New for 2021"? so there were actually 2020 models? or is yours a 2021 sold in 2020.

If their are 20 & 21 models, are there any differences between the two? Like shock or? I've searched but find no answers.

Did you get the "RACE" package/software included? if so do you know what that actually contains/opens?

Coming from out of state doesn't it have to have mileage on it before registration in cali or because it's a 50 state bike you no longer need that??

I figure to go buy one but was just waiting for 2021 since all I've found on them was a projected arrival date of January

thanks for any help with this/

Thanks Mike!
Mine's a 2020 model year made in March or April of this year (I think). KTM made a limited number - not sure how many or why such a small run. As I understand it, the 2021s that will show up in dealers in January will be identical to the 2020s except they're made in China. Not sure how much is made in china, obviously they'll have Italian brakes and Austrian suspension.
I don't think anyone has been able to do a side-by-side comparison of the 2020 and 2021 yet - at least I haven't seen anything, and I looked.

Yeah, it's a 50 state bike with California specifically called out on the emissions sticker. Identical to the ones sold in CA.

If you want one, get on the phone with these guys tomorrow.

I'll have a local dealer load/unlock the $750 Tech Pack/Track pack to get MSR, Track mode, wheelie control defeat, etc.

Thanks Lonster. Yeah, can't wait! :ride
Looking forward to hear your thoughts on the shock.

exploring!
Enjoy! I'm rode the smaller 790 Duke and could feel the evil flowing through me. I can't imagine a brand spanking new 890 with all the bells and whistles. Please post some photos once you get it.

The 890 definitely fits the bill as more than enough HP and light weight. I'm shopping for the 890 Adventure R in spring.

EDIT: Had another BARFer (who also has a 690/701 )reach out to me last week asking about my 890. I thought you were him for a minute and got excited it happened so quick. But nope, just another future fan! :laughing

Congrats! You're going to love that bike. I've never liked a stock bike more, as an overall package.

Unlock all the goodies. They're worth it. The track pack works very, very well once you get it dialed in to your taste. (It's also the only way you can wheelie it) I had to dial back the TC a bit so that I could get a little spin out of the rear tire on corner exit. The quickshiter works great too, as long as you're on the gas. It's a little jerky if you're at neutral throttle. The cruise control is great too - it's really weird to have on a bike but I love it. Only stupid downside is that you have to buy the switch cluster to use CC. You'd think they'd sell more of the CC packs if you didn't feel like they're gouging you to buy a whole new relay just to add 2 buttons instead of offering it on the bike like on the SDR and 790

The ABS has been non-intrusive in sumo mode, I even kept it on at the track.

Not that it'll sway you since you already bought it but I laid out my review of it in this thread

I recommend the Evotech tail tidy and frame sliders as well as the Cylops turn indicators

All good info so far. The only thing I will add is this: the 2020 models were built In Austria, early this year. When covid hit, ktm sent out all the 890's they had, before shutting down the factory. That is where the bikes with VIN's lower than xxx500 are from.

Nice deal on the 890!
I'm the one debating on selling my 690 SMC R for an 890 Duke.
I know CalMoto is receiving 2 this month, they quoted me $14,135 otd. That's without the tech pack.

Thanks man! I'd read your thread when I was researching. :thumbup
Bike's supposed to show up tomorrow morning.
Appointment for Techpack install on Friday!
Debating on the cruise control... Should probably just do it all at once.
