It's a Zoo out there.

I did one of my favorite loops this AM, that includes Stage Road, from San Gregorio to Pescadero.

It is definitely Spring time on the coast!

Along Stage Road I encountered several Quail "families" with numerous fledged chicks. I slowed way down to allow them to clear the road.

Then, the bunnies, like a half dozen or so, running across the road, with their little cotton tails bouncing along.

A little further on, I came upon a doe with 2 fawns, a 3fer of deer if you will.

Just when I thought I couldn't possibly see anything else, a red tail hawk flew over me, hauling a large gopher; I think I could make out it's little legs flailing along in the wind as the bird labored to stay aloft.

And of course, no Stage Road ride is complete without seeing the Horse-Drawn Wagon Geezers, who nodded at me as I coasted past.

Like I said, "It's a zoo out there."

Sounds like fun given your attentiveness.

The Road still clean?? I was amazed a couple weeks ago and how clean of debris it was.

Its not bad. Just one wide corner where there is a collection of gravel from the last chip seal.

It surprised me a few weeks back, doing an unscheduled 5 foot slide. But now I know its there waiting for the next late apexing rider.

Too much lean angle...
Today I had to yield to a bunny, a turkey, and a deer. And two birds flew alongside me in a turn, like a Disney princess :ride

During the Saturday ride out of Kernville, I took out 2 ground squirrels, pop pop, and a bird off my helmet.

But no squidly calamari?

Not on Stage Road, but later on Skyline north of Skylonda I saw several SiliconCarSquids.

I'm sure you seen the species. They don't/can't ride a moto, have enough squat to get their hands on a Bugatti, or similar status-symbol, can barely get out of 1st gear and learned to drive in the dealership driveway.
Soon to be seen on Youtube moron channel drifting in to a lane you riding in.

I have seen them recently up North, too. I guess try to avoid arterial sweepers.

Yeah. You have to be on Skyline and La Honda at 8am or earlier these days. Any later you're dealing with gym bros in their armored vests, a train of slow cars from some niche car club, and the inevitable Subaru driver going 25 mph refusing to use turnouts.
