it keeps getting more strange....

If the goal is to bring more money to the Afm.If the BoD goes to meetings and "racks their brains" on how to achieve this, why is there a 4 man race on the end of Saturday?Am I missing something here? Couldn't a large grid have been on that spot for 7 rounds? Who exactly is making these decisions
.

Instead of face palming me...Explain how we have 4 wave races on Sunday. You have a lightweight grid and a vintage grid (2waves) then you have a 5th race....Aaron.How is the question a face palm?...AFull grid could be run AND the turnworker charity could be run.Again, what am I missing here?

Well...you bust my onions for asking, and then leave it like it isnt a legitt question to ask...Formula Tech could be run on the race 4 grid. And by the schedule laid out there is time for a race 5

Because I couldn't get through all the complaining to the actual question(s).

Why not submit a proposal for next year rather then complain about this 2 weeks before the final round of the season? I mean, WTF do you expect to happen now? Are we all supposed to jump in our DeLorean's and reschedule the first 6 rounds?

Aaron. My question was Who is making these decisions...I contacted the BoD after round 2 concerning grids and revenue.I was completely ignored with 4 weeks heads up as to what could be improved upon..Now I see 2 rounds of tech grids where i suggested we have 20 bike grids...This aint a shot from the side Man..I was ignored, not because the idea was wack-it would have brought THOUSANDS to the AFM coffers.I was straight up ignored for personal reasons..I would like yo know if this was voted on by the BoD.

You want a "large grid" in the middle of a multi-wave race? Why?

Maybe the board just thinks that your ideas are kind of dumb and that you're kind of illiterate. Just a thought.

As a reminder, I'm not on the BoD, but here's my .02 anyways since you seem to be asking BARF rather then an actual BoD member.

Did you go to the BoD meeting and present your idea(s)? Did you sit down and talk to a BoD member or two and see if you can get them to support your idea? Ask them what concerns they had and work together to address them? Perhaps see if they would be your champions? Maybe you took the time to write up a petition and see if you can get a bunch of racers to sign on to support your idea?

Honestly, I don't know who or how you reached out to the BoD with these ideas, but if you took the same tone with them as you usually do here on BARF I can imagine why it didn't go very far. Your best bet is to reach out to one or two of the BoD members and get to know them and they know you. Not just when you want something, but take some time to understand how the BoD works. Not saying you have to be their best friend, but I bet you come off a lot better in person then over the Internet.

So to answer your questions...

You can contact the secretary (Connie) if you have any questions about what the BoD voted on. It's all in the meeting minutes which are published. If you want the minutes from a specific month you just have to email her for them. She's actually quite helpful if you ask nice.

All I know about votes is what Connie has put in the minutes or those few occasions where I went to a meeting and took notes. I tried to find a few other members to trade off with me, but nobody took me up on it.

As for who makes decisions, well the President sets the racing schedule (what races when and what classes are on the same grid) and the Race Director executes it. Apparently the RD also decides how many laps are in each race.

The BoD votes in changes to the rule book which would add/remove a class to the schedule and decides which classes are chapter optional. Usually these things go through the rules committee.

Pretty much this. If you want to change things, you need to make a plan, think it out, document it, gather support, and present at a meeting.

If you send a board member an email saying: "WHY THE FUCK DON'T YOU have a separate race for Formula Grom? It will get the attention it deserves. None.

Mind you, I think Formula Grom would be great and when Formula 60 Grom happens I'm on it like brown on rice.

I reached out the BoD,not with an idea for"me"..It has been in regards to increased revenue.I spoke with other BoD members. All as has been said by you and others here. The s.o.p.There is no petition needed in this case..1 (one) individual i was told can make or break the call...Kyle.-im sorry you are not following along properly. This is about maximizing .Not about stuffing "20" bikes on a grid..I have the emails, who they where sent to and time stamps....I pleaded for the President to re consider what Exactly I had seen/proposed-in detail. It only had win, win, win for the club..The other BoD members threw up their hands and said good luck getting the President to listen to any idea other than his own..I see a race being added and I thought it was time to speak up after trying nearly all season OFF of barf trying to get someone to listen..Barf is the afm forum now.So the last option is to air what had been a season long inquiry..

Any AFM member can submit an idea. The point of gathering signatures and paperwork is to not only illustrate that other members are interested but that the idea has been thought out. I'm not sure you understand how many "great ideas" get submitted to the board. Or how great some of them are. (not)

It's a representative ruling body. Typically that means half the members may not like what is happening. If you think the President is doing a bad job, run for President. Or get elected to the board and discover just how complicated and contentious that gets.

This +1000

As for the other comments, specifically:

Don't rack all of us into this category..that's an uninformed statement and frankly I have never seen you at a BoD meeting. Maybe show up and see what we deal with..then again I'm sure this post will resonate with you and you will take it to heart *sarcasm, in case you didn't catch it*. In the end, we all pay to be part of this club, it's in our control to keep it running smoothly. If you don't like something do something about it, personally I think an shooting off an email, then throwing my hands up wouldn't be my "last option".

People are so dumb. "let me bitch about everyone else making this club run at its best potential (in their spare time mind you) just to get my voice heard. Oh wait, to get something changed I actually have to do something? Nevermind then...."

People are so quick to jump on others in this club and talk so much shit its becoming depressing even being a part of it and saying "I'm an AFM racer."

OH, and find another president that can do better than Berto, that also doesn't take the salary that is offered to the president....I dare you. Berto does this job for free, and he gets this crap from everyone in return. I wouldn't be surprised one bit if he steps down, even if nobody runs against him. I wouldn't want to put up with this crap from people either.

The issue I see here is people that want information and cannot get it. This For or against the BoD or specific people is kind of a red herring. The AFM is a non profit and is meant to be a club. People should feel included. Maybe we need to look at by-laws to make that happen. I dunno but all this defending one side or the other is getting annoying.

You make some very good points here. The By-Laws are pretty good, understanding and interpretation - dependent on lunar, tidal and in some cases, biological calendars, membership involvement is minimal at best, for many different reasons.

I'm thinking if I want to reply to many of the comments here. It certainly won't make me any more friends, but that's not why I took the job (and Siglin told me not the take the job).

One thing I will say; Yuri's a nice guy in person. I've had a few sparse interactions with him, but he seems like a good dude in person. I just wish we could talk about this stuff at person for a few minutes, if it's that important.
