Is this guy right or wrong about Austin, TX?

I went to the beach just about every day after work when I lived on Great Highway out in the Sunset.

Nothin better than when it's easy to do something fun. I still think it's a bit weird to put a bike on a car to then take it somewhere to ride, ya know? When we bought the current casa, it never even really crossed my mind that we were two blocks from Wildcat Canyon, because I was fixated on bedrooms, condition, etc etc. It's turned out to be great for hiking or biking from the front door.

I guess. I got a brand new home for under $565k that's less than an hour away from SF when there are shit holes out there for that much. Sucks it's in a Mello-Roos and a HOA. Fucking OUCH! :laughing

Just install an auto lube.

good friend of mine recently moved to fredericksburg. loves it.

I was shocked driving through there on the way to Austin earlier this year.

It was lovely with actual mild elevation changes.

Looked like there was some great moto roads about.

Didn't stay long as a kid, but long enough to have deep understanding of Texas heat and humidity.

Except for staying in San Antonio for a couple days on my train trip, where the weather was actually wonderful and not very humid at all, anytime I've been back to Texas, I'm always thinking, "Fuck, I'm glad my parents moved us out of here."

I remember your epic train trip thread. :thumbup

Austin and San Antonio are great places to visit.

No way could I live there or the Atlanta suburbs (Gwinnett County) where my sister lives.

And now that she apparently won't get the Covid vaccine I can cross Georgia off my list! :laughing

Spent a lot of time in Rochester for work. I loved me some Sticky Lips BBQ. I miss their Cherry Bomb sauce.....and Wegmans, that is what all grocery stores should be.

I remember one time leaving the swamps to fly there, weather here was in the 80s so I packed my jacket in my luggage as it was hot here. Well, united lost my luggage and I landed in NY with no jacket and 30s outside. To Rochesterites, it was spring weather so I had a bitch of a time trying to find a jacket but finally after freezing my way through 6 stores found one on a clearance rack. Still have that jacket always been my favorite since I got it.....

I've been here a little over a year and a half so far. Digging it. Can't wait for the pandemic to calm down so I can get back to exploring and meeting people more. Sticky Lips is aight but I think Dinosaur is better. Their brisket is amazing. And there's a handful of lesser known places too that I still gotta check out.

The city is definitely smaller than SF but it's metropolitan enough that I feel like I can get just about anything I'd be looking for. I've honestly forgotten what it feels like to sit in traffic. People here are far friendlier than they are in the bay area. There's more space, living is cheaper.

So far the biggest drag is that no one here knows how to make a decent taco, and the burritos are kinda meh.

This thread is just further justifying that I'll never move away from San Diego :laughing

It is an enjoyable City, but how will you never escape the horrors of the daystar and the heat?

I like to visit that place, but it is hard to imagine living there.
