My dad still has this bike, in boxes mostly. He took the motor apart but said he couldn't find parts, so there it sits. He says it's was a factory Ron Grant bike that was made street legal. 750 two stroke trippleIMG_0854.jpg

Those are highly sought after in original condition. They are pretty sweet modded, too.

I'll come pick it up and put it together. Does it have a title?

Says he has a pink slip for it. I don't know if he would get rid of it or not. Hell he has a 73 CZ and still drives a 77 ford F250.
I can't stop thinking of those two bikes that 2STROKEYARDSALE put up,they are some of the best looking bikes I have seen. If I could ride one I would build that exact bike.

No only yes but hell yes. I do have to question the Ron Grant bike status though. Do you have any supporting documentation on that?

This is the story I was told since he bought it back in the late 70s. I will ask him today if there is something to verify the ron Grant status. Personally I don't care,I just remember getting to ride it one time back in high school. I got in trouble cause the neighbor ratted me out for doing over a 100 down the country RD we lived on, so I wasn't allowed to ride it after that. I just think it's a waist to be sitting in the garage in boxes.

Good on ya Jesse, you have an awesome project there! I say rebuild/restore the best you can, those bikes are worth it. :thumbup

(I'm a little biased, I love two strokes!) :teeth

Ron Grant fashioned lotsa 'Zooks back in the day outta his Brisbane shop

he parlayed his maker & riding skills into a US factory ride on their red-faired 500s, one of which won the 1st-ever 2-smoke AMA Nat'l [under Art Bauman @ Sears Point]

Leaving it sitting in boxes isn't a good option! :)

Any idea what kind of damage happened? I assume it was something really bad vs. a light seizure. You might have to buy a lot of used eBay stuff to have enough good parts to get it going again. And you might have to give up fancy race tuned stuff for more stock stuff.

Certainly not impossible. Certainly not fast or easy.

I would love to restore this bike myself, but the reality of me doing a full restore is more than I can handle these days. I have to pick my battles and that's not going to be one of them. If I could talk him into getting rid of it, about what's it worth? He has a complete rolling chassis and the motor is in a box. He was going to rebuild it but said he couldn't find crank bearings. I remember it has aluminum rims and dual disk brakes.

The OP says it's a factory bike. I remember seeing the factory bikes back in the day. They were very special machines with a full staff of Japanese technicians. I'm not an expert on the topic but I have doubts if full factory bikes ever left the company. If it is a factory bike, it would have extreme value.

He said it was running but it sat in the garage for to long. He was going to rebuild the hole bike but then life happened and there it still sits. The motor was not seized up. Any idea what it's worth ?

I don't personally know if it is or isn't a ron Grant factory bike. I was just told back in the day that it was a ex ron Grant racing bike turned street legal. I do know that when ever so called factory bikes get sold to the public that most of the factory parts are taken off. Again I don't personally care if it's a ron Grant bike or not. I am not trying to sell it, hell it's not even mine it's my dad's. It's just a bike that's in my dad's garage that I wish was up and running

Now those are some of the best looking bikes. The expansion chambers alone could school every can maker out there. All we have now are sewer pipes stuck onto irrigation pipes for exhausts.

I have a request, next time you take them out, how about link to a sound clip?
