Iran companies paying bounties on US soldiers.

=======================================================
At least five Iranian companies stationed in Afghanistan are covertly funding Taliban militants, paying them salaries of $233 a month with a $1,000 bonus for killing an American soldier, according to the Sunday Times of London.
Blowing up a US military vehicle is worth $6,000, making insurgents better paid than any Afghan police officer or soldier.
"Iran will never stop funding us, because Americans are dangerous for them as well," said a Taliban treasurer, who travels from the mountainous Wardak province to an Iranian construction company that operates out of Kabul to pick up the cash.

MONEY MAN: The regime of Mahmoud Ahmadinejad (right) is paying to attack GIs in Afghanistan.

"The money we get is not dirty. It is for jihad," he said.
The treasurer said he has picked up almost $79,000 in the past six months.
Afghan intelligence and Taliban sources told the Times that the firms -- set up with foreign aid money within the past six months -- provide cash for a network of district Taliban treasurers to pay battlefield expenses and bonuses for killing the enemy and destroying their vehicles.
The Iranian companies win contracts to supply materials and logistics to Afghans involved in reconstruction. The money often comes in the form of aid from foreign donors.
Profits are transferred through poorly regulated Afghan banks -- including Kabul Bank, which is partly owned by President Hamid Karzai's brother Mahmood -- to Tehran and Dubai.
From there, the money returns to Afghanistan through the informal Islamic banking system known as hawala.
"This means the companies involved in funding the insurgency can cover their tracks easily. It makes it harder for us to trace the cash flow," a senior Afghan intelligence official said.
He said the Iranian companies had been formed with the intention of winning contracts funded by foreign aid so that donors' cash could be channeled into the insurgency.
The Iranian embassy in Kabul refused to respond to the allegations.

It's a good thing money doesn't rule everyone, or there would be no Afghan police officers or soldiers. But extremes aside, what about the average man in Afghanistan? Is cash enough to make a bad guy out of a neutral guy?

Fuck I could write this article without going to Kabul.

So some imaginary sources are telling you that Iranians are doing this shit (Not to say they aren't) but you've got to do better than that. We don't want to waste another TRILLION dollars on some shit somebody made up.

Not sure what you're talking about, but I only linked the first hit in google with both situations. Feel free to type in the key words and find the exact same stories run by outlets not owned by this "murdoch" you speak of.

do you know who rupert murdoch is and his relationship to the post, fox news ect?

if i were you, i wouldnt believe a single thing from the post, or fox news for that matter

this is a ridiculus story designed specificaly to continue to sell their preconcived narrative(same as fox news does)

if this is real, lets see some proof. lets see a source. lets see ANY evidence, aside from what is basically an opinion piece. and the use of the word "heroes" in their headline just goes to show where they are comming from

If you google it, you will find plenty of sources saying the same thing. Does this guy own them all?

before you driop the rolly eyes maybe you should look at the "sources" you claim, which arnt actually sources but all quoting each other to make it seem like a true story.

Kevin is going to have an issue with all sources, even if you find 50 different ones. Somehow he'll link them all to Fox news.

Why do some people try so hard to not believe something that is so realistic?

Kevin - you really think this is far fetched and unheard of or what?

All news is biased to a degree. To pick on a few companies is naive.

im not ONLY picking on one, ands while all is biased, some are massively biased to a degree that they have been caught, mulitple times, fabricating stories, facts, ommiting facts, doctoring photos, doctoring videos, misrepresenting photos/video, ect, to such a degree that it is no longer a source at all. lest we not forget also that the mother company of this source is the one who sued for the right to fabricate facts in their stories...and won

Ok, Kevin. I accept your logical approach. While unlikely, I admit there is a chance this may not be true. Tiny chance, but in reality a chance.

To put the argument aside, IF this was true - what would you think of it?

t-1, honestly, a huge amount of them ARE linked to fox news/murdoch. too many in fact. my entire point is the top ten hits on google arent actual sources cause they are all the same story from the same surce. see what i mean? add in the fact that the story has no evidence to it, and the source of the story has a vested interest in its viewpoint, and you have to wonder...

BUT, i will agree it isnt far fetched, and wpuldnt suprise me at all. BUT, that isnt the point! the POINT is that here we have a story represented as fact, when no facts are listed, nor sources, and whos origin is suspect and a habitual fabricater of stories. see my point?

and no, i dont believe almost ANY stories because of the state of journalism in this country. i think my list of hits sort of hits on that point.

edit just saw your last post-I certainly think it COULD be true, yes, but what i think and what IS, is two different things for sure.

if this WAS/IS true, i think action should be taken upon the companies....though let me also make my point that i believe we shold not be in that war in the first place, and that here is another example of putting our soliders in danger when they should be home protecting us here

I try hard to remain skeptical of news attributed to anonymous sources reported by someone with an interest in influencing policy.

Guess you didn't learn anything from the Iraq War.

I agree. :thumbup
Too much, too long, not the way to do it if given a chance to repeat it.
One extreme(apathy) or another(nukes) may have been better.
