Why are cats so awesome? Ours is a healthy and funny 15 years old who wakes us up at 5:30am for...who the F knows what.

Two decades ago we trained Bob that feeding times were 6:00 am and 6:00 pm. We just refused earlier feedings, and it didn't take long for him to learn the habit.

He taught Wolvie, they taught Greyson. Bob went to Bast's realm at age 18, but his habits live on in the kittens he raised. Wolvie and Greyson taught Athena, Eros, Marco Polo, and Tiger Lily. Though unrelated to Bob they all display many of his habits and quirks.

But if I'm not up at 6:00 I get a cat on the chest doing the "poky paw" routine. They rotate that duty. :)

That is awesome! We've tried to train our cat "Frog" (we have a turtle named "Little Cloud" in Chinese, and some actual frogs...my wife is funny/weird) to only eat at certain times, but in the end...she has trained us. Now, one of us has to get up at 5:30am to feed her. What's funny/annoying is, after she eats, she meows more. She wants us to wake up, so she can sit on a lap. It's awesome/annoying as fuck.

Wolverine, our oldest, insists on laptime every morning after he eats. I bent my morning routine around it, but he knows that he has to wait a little bit.

Now that we two in two pairs of foster fails (the cats were fine; one pair was adopted by our older pair, the next by Mrs.) my lap duty gets rotated. Sometimes I end up with two or three and sometimes one gives up a space so another can have it. I find that shit fascinating, the way that six cats from four mothers can establish a happy equilibrium.

Another funny thing: both of the TNRs with whom I still have contact expect immediate treats from me. Both ended up becoming housecats, but they still remember me as "Treat Guy." Spooky still hisses at me as his friendly greeting as he cheek-rubs me and gets petted. Hunter does her kitty bow.
