Intent to Recall All WR250R & WR250X MCs

It's not my fault...
In all affected motorcycles, the stator coil insulation might become damaged and short circuit due to insufficient heat resistance. This would decrease electrical output which could allow the battery to discharge.

As the 2nd owner of the bike I would have never received anything in the mail...just stumbled upon this. Going to call Yamaha tomorrow and see what the skinny is.

Super common issue with a lot of motorcycles. Triumph had to recall a bunch of motorcycles behind of this.

Just when I thought my backup bike was gtg when the FI light started going mad on the SMC.

Just spoke to Berkeley Yamaha. Nothing in their system yet as my VIN shows no issues.

I did read of some Canadian owners already taking their bikes in for the recall...maybe Canada moves at a more rapid pace...

Update: I called Berkeley Yamaha and they said that Yamaha has OK'd a retrofit for my WR250X. The guy said the parts will be in mid week next week and he set me up with a service appt. right after.

Wow, I had this happen to me a few years ago and I just replaced the stator. I thought it was something about the lithium battery that I was running that damaged the stator.
