Insurance question (injury, not bike)

So all my health, life and AD&D policies are ok with racing, and don’t have any exclusions. However I also carry additional accident insurance (think Aflac) which does exclude “driving any motor-driven vehicle in a race”.

I’m curious if anyone has or knows of any supplemental accident insurance that does not exclude racing?

I just added a "Whole" life insurance policy ontop of the Term policy I had already. This is through AAA and it covers me even if I was to pass in an accident at the track racing or just a track day. $100K policy for a little over $100 a month and you stop paying on it when you hit 70. The Term policy will cancel/expire when you turn 65. In my eyes it was worth the extra policy to make sure my wife and kids are covered should something bad happen to myself.

Hope this helps.

You should shop around. I have a policy with AIG, roughly $70 a month and pays $750k. Covers , racing, sports, etc. had to get a physical and interview but worth it. I’m a AAA member and they send me mailers but they’re coverage is poor.

Good call, thanks Mike. I will definitely look into this!

I noticed the OP didn’t mention Disability Income (DI) insurance which covers the loss of income if you’re unable to do your job (potentially forever) after an injury. IMO, this could be even more important than life/AD+D. For the people who have policies, like MR662, does that include DI?

Mine is Accidental Death/Dismemberment. Covers loss of limbs and paralysis. Loss of arm/leg/vision etc. anywhere from 50-100% depending on injury.

Right this was my question. I have life and AD&D coverage sorted, but my Unum accident/disability coverage excludes racing. I think that’s what you’re referring to as DI? It covers my income loss and out of pocket expenses if I get hurt, but not racing. It looks like Aflac has the same stance on racing.

So I was wondering if others have info on a similar policy that doesn’t discriminate?

Disability insurance, by its nature, always discriminates. The average office worker has about 10% of the chances of incurring disability as the average construction worker. The average racer probably has 5 times the chance of being injured as the average construction worker. They charge for the risk.
