Rear brake would be my guess. That pushes the front of the bike down; although I'm not sure that would work as intended with the bike horizontal, actually. :laughing

Note how he momentarily locks up the rear right at the start. Crazy stuff.

u can see the spokes still turning. he doesnt lock it.

getting the front lower BEFORE passing the crest of the jump while trying to scrub as low as possible seems like a bad idea, wasteful really.

Re-watching it, I think you are right.

As for the second part of your post, it seems to work pretty well. Look at the gap between him and the guy behind him before and after the jump.

sooner you get back on the ground sooner you get back on the gas.

In my day we turned the front wheel sideways to make a small correction or just look cool. :laughing

Looks all fancy and stuff but other than that does it have any practical purpose.
Yeah there's mention of it getting the rear wheel back on the dirt quicker but does that really happen.
