I think I want something different

Hey fellas

So I have had my 07 GSXR 1000 for almost two years now. Had lots of great track time and short road trips on it. Even drug knee for the first time. Several times ha

But I have found that I want something slightly more upright. But I also don't want to give up track ability. I realize I wont be dragging elbow on a standard bike, but I want to go out and be able to have a great time.

My biggest issue is my budget. Right now I have almost no funds. So basically whatever I could get for my current bike is what I canspend. So probably not much more than about 5k ish.

Was hoping some of the guys in here who have been in my position will shed some light on options or have a bike they might want to trade for a squid machine.

Thanks fellas

Justin

I bought a supermoto and haven't wanted to ride my sprotbile in a while, the sumo is so fun. Mostly urban riding, short freeway jaunts, etc. It's very agile and ridiculously enjoyable. The only thing I miss is the sheer speed and the sound of the inline 4. But for my type of riding that's not necessary.

there is a seemingly perfect fit to what you want in the moto for sale section...FZ1 with some great mods:thumbup

Handelbar conversion.
I did it to my R1 and I loved it. Improved the bike in every way for me.

Spiegler sells the whole kit including the triple clamp, handlebars of your choice [color, height and bend] spiegler steel braided lines of correct length.
Only mods needed to the fairing is a small trim on the sides of the windshield so the master cylinder reservoir won't touch it a full lock.

I was in your position. I had a 2001 GSX-R750. I bought an FZ1. I hated the FZ1 (too heavy, wind protection sucks at highway speeds, stock suspension sucks). So I bought a 2011 GSX-R750.

My advice? Buy a set of Heli-bars and keep your current bike...

Fz1 is probably the best candidate. I just dont see the vfr bein fun at the track. I know they're great bikes. Possibly a triumph?.

I'd suggest keeping your bike, and just get the street fighter, LSL handlebar conversion kit, from Spiegler.

Lets do a bike trade for a few months. I'll lend you my R1150RT. I don't ride on the street much anymore, maybe a few times a month.

If not.. check out the FZ07 or FZ09, OMG! the little 700 is fantastically quick great geometry, very short wheel base, very fun in the tight corners. Like a TT dirt track bike.

Coming from someone who did a lot of trackdays on both a VFR and FZ1, I liked the VFR better as far as how it felt. The FZ1 was definitely more powerful and likely faster around the track, but it still felt funny. I loved the VFR on track, heavy as it is... it felt a little weird after I put helibars on, but got used to it quickly. It never felt right leaning over and hanging off on the FZ1. There's a reason why one is classified as a sportbike and one is a standard...

I agree with Lou and am now putting my head into an oven.

Yeow, How about agreeing with Corb, and Sport Rider magazine?

They agree with me, And I with them....

Just suggesting you might agree with them and save yourself from the Oven :teeth
