Sunday morning, I received an email from the HOA telling me that there would be plumber working in the unit above mine to clear some clogging from their bathtub. I remembered the unit owner was a hairy woman and could see why it happened. Then I heard the snaking sound above my bathroom ceiling and went to check the bathtub and sink drains. They were fine. I hoped they clear the clog all the way and not just pushing it down and clog my drains. So far so good.
2 PM, was playing Lego with my son in the living room and suddenly I heard water dripping. Went back to the bathroom and Jesus Christ :wtf, there was a curtain of water coming down from the bathroom door. I threw some towels to keep it from flooding the floor and ran up to the upper unit to tell the guy to shut the water and come check in my bathroom. Apparently he was snaking too hard and broke a joint from the drainage, but of course he did not admit to that, and started blah-hing about how corroded a 5 year-old pipeline could be.
I called the HOA and they had asked the offending unit and the one above it not using the shower and sink until the plumber coming back to open my bathroom ceiling to fix the leak on Monday, the Christmas Eve. Fuck that shit, I told them to wait unit Wednesday, my family would not sacrifice our day off for it. The owners of the 2 units up there got to go bath somewhere for two days. I feel bad for the guy in the top unit, he just bought it and most likely innocent in this event. He was nice and said he could wait as long as my family was ready. I did not feel bad for the woman in the offending unit. That hairy bitch even flushed tampons down the toilet caused the last year disaster.
So, in a few hours they will come and rip open my bathroom ceiling. I already took some photos of the current condition and will demand they to finish the ceiling properly, not just some shitty patching job. I have condo insurance but I believe the HOA will pay for everything in the first place and send bill to anyone they can prove wrong doing later. Nevertheless, I am quite fucking angry since it happened mad. Tomorrow I will have a day off work, but instead of enjoying it with the family, I will have to stay watching them work and then clean up afterward. Should I demand reimbursement for lost work hours (technically it is a working day), or hotel room in case they will not be able to finish the job in one day? Any thoughts?
Hope you all were having a better time than I did.
