How's the smoke in the Sierra right now (Sonora)

I've been itching to get up the 108 corridor and do some riding, looking at the smoke maps, it looks like it's not great, but not horrible. I know smoke can blow in out relatively quickly up there, but does anyone have any real world exposure? I'll be camping, so 24/7 in it. Thanks in advance.

Thanks guys, wishful thinking on my part. It looks like if I want to ride smoke free, it's way North or down past SLO. And thanks for that Nasa link, I like that. The second link is the one I've been using.

A friend riding east from the Bay Area said he finally got some clear air in Winnemucca:ride
Yesterday morning, there was no smoke in Reno for a change. I rode west here to Auburn and didn't notice any smoke.

Before yesterday, not much could be seen outside in Reno other than the smoke.

Here in Auburn it's clear today.

The weather reports show the "air quality" for here and Reno as "fair" for today. Before yesterday, it was "very unhealthy" for the last couple of weeks in both Auburn, CA and Reno, NV.

Today was the opposite than the other day. I rode my Moto Guzzi from Reno to Auburn and today it was VERY smokey the entire way, except clear in Reno. It started to get smokey before I got to the summit.

A couple of days ago, I went the opposite direction and the sky was as blue as could be, not a trace of smoke then up in the mountains.

Rode to Mariposa on Hwy 49 today. The area at the bottom of the little dragon the smoke was thick like fog. Everywhere else was just bad smoke. :thumbdown

Downtown Mariposa.

South end of the little dragon looking down on some great turns. Look hard and you can see the road.

WOW I was looking at that smoke map and literally the WHOLE west is on fire. I was planning to ride the Idaho BDR and Washington BDR next week and literally all of them are on fire or the smoke is bad. The window to ride them is fading fast! It's no wonder they shut all the forests down :(

Today is the best I've seen it in like a week so I went out for a ride and San Jose is still blanketed in smoke. You should be able to see the city but you can't really. Here's the view from Sierra Vista and this is suppose to be an improvement o_O' GREEN. I heard the smoke is going to get worse again this weekend :(

You should be able to see downtown San Jose here:

The local Seattle baseball team was supposed to play SF here today.
Yeah, no. They're moving it to SF because you have less smoke down there.

About 0.1 mile visibility.
No reason to go touring right now.

Just as well to do circuits in a parking lot basement. Nothing to see here.

It's even worse now. Down to less than 100 yards visibility.

That's Seattle over there somewhere.

Meanwhile, in the Bay Area, we're enjoying a (hopefully not too) brief respite from the smoke.
