How Long Before the Pundits Claim an SEC Team is the NCAA Champion?

Just looked at the score for Alabama/Ohio State, hahahahahahahaha

Maybe now the media will stop hyping southern football so much.

Yup. Up to and including Jan. 12, I shall be a Ducks fan. I hope they win it all, and disappoint all the asswipe sportswriters that just love the back East football dominance bit.

One other point. I don't question that the SEC is the strongest conference. But being the best team in the SEC doesn't guarantee that team is the best in the nation.

This has been a very, very long time in coming and damn, does it ever feel good. And I'm not even a Ducks fan.

My office.
The Ohio State University just whupped the best the SEC has to offer and they did it with their Third String Quarterback making only his second start ever. If Braxton Millerr or Barett had played in that game it would have been a blow out. Fuck the sec.

Oregon looks to be the best team in the country right now though.

As much as it pains me to say it, go Oregon.

Go ahead, son, let it out...Nyuk.

But seriously, despite my loyalties to local institutions, the blisteringly fast offense is pretty damn entertaining. To me, it represents incredible discipline if it succeeds (which it obviously does) and that is something worthy of admiration. I keep thinking Mariota looks small, but he's 6'4" and 219, which is not tiny but those other teams seem pretty beefy. His style certainly puts him at constant risk of getting hammered.

Rolls with it...
I'm sure the future "Harbaugh vs Meyers" feud will make the past "Harbaugh vs Carroll" feud look like a practice round... can't wait.

Good point. Hopefully my Badgers and Chryst will make it a threesome... but I'm not holding my breath.

Whoever ends up coaching there will be going after the same HS players as Meyers & Harbaugh, so I will expect the feud to start then (and I'm not forgetting the Spartans.)

It will be seriously entertaining.:laughing

That's true. But it's also the problem. In the old system, the assumption was that no team outside the SEC had a reasonable chance at winning the whole thing. That skews recruiting to a great degree. If I were a prospect, of course I'd rather play for an SEC team. Anyway, as a fan, this made for a game that wasn't as competitive as it could have been. I think this year and the future will change that for the better.

Exactly! If there was no playoff system this year the title game would have been Alabama vs SFU. We know that would have been a fraud much like half that list of SEC champions from the last decade is too.
