How are the OAK airport security lines these days?

Friends are flying out of OAK Saturday mid day.

How are the lines looking there these days? TSA is bungling things, it took me 40 minutes to get through SFO security recently where it used to be 10. Last time through OAK there was no one in line at T1 at all, but it was also very low travel time (mid day mid week mid January). This Saturday mid day is peak n00b travel time.

Went to LA a couple weeks ago. 8am flight. TSA was backed up all the way to the baggage claim. Took an hour to get through.

Sorry can't help with OAK but recently flew out of SFO (International) and SJC (Terminal B). 1 hour security line for 6~7am flights. :(

OAK is VERY fast. I'm usually at the gate within 10 minutes of arrival to airport.

Has something changed? I've read about slow TSA lines recently.

I haven't flown in/out of Oakland in about 1 month (so YMMV), but security line has always been fast there for me.

I think because its a commuter airport the earlier flights get hammered. I'm going back to LA in 2 weeks and chose a 10:30am flight just to see if it lighter and better.

Avoid the Southwest Terminal for early morning flights. It's faster to go to Terminal 1 and then walk to Terminal 2.

I got to my gate at 6:46am for a 6:50 flight. Doors closed at 6:40. Missed.

Between the long Terminal 2 line, forgetting my A&D ointment, and having to describe my tattoo it took too long to get through.

Got a flight coming up this Friday....

Generally what I would do for a 5:45 take off is this:
5:45AM take off
5:15 Boarding
Arrive at airport at 4:15 AM

If I get there at 4AM that should be good, right? Or do you think it's already fucked at that time?

Wow, it must be the mid-day difference. I tend to fly weekdays 10am to 2pm or so window, and I would arrive 45 min before takeoff (not boarding time), be at gate 30 min before takeoff, and then wait 25-30 min and kick myself.

I have a 745 flight on Friday morning out of SFO from the international terminal.

What is the expected wait time? How long does it take to get from SFO Int'l BART to SFO terminal? Any fee or tickets needed for that or does it count as a free transfer/shuttle?

Interesting. I fly out of OAK pretty frequently on early Southwest flights. Sometimes evenings too. Never takes more than a few minutes to get through security.

Has anyone done the TSA pre-check? I just signed up for it and the next appointment is 6/28. I was wondering if it was quicker to walk in because I'm traveling in 2 weeks?

SFO BART to International G security checkpoint is a 3 minute walk. International A is a 5 minute walk. You want to sit in the furthest forward train car, since you walk forward to get to the terminal.

Yes, it's gotten much much worse in the past few months. Sounds like OAK is still doing OK.

Oh, that is just generally the amount of time I give myself before any flight just in case....but I'm wondering if that's not enough with the slow AF TSA shenanigans going on right now.
