Hostess Brands is planning to list on the stock market this fall as part of a deal valuing the company at $2.3 billion....

The old Hostess, which included Wonder Bread and other brands, employed some 19,000 people. The Twinkies purveyor now has 1,200 employees.

Yeah, they changed the recipe to extend shelf life so they could ship them, since they no longer have a bazillion regional bakeries.

Zingers don't taste the same either.

OTOH, a medicore Twinkie is better than no Twinkie at all.

Ive eaten plenty of junk but I've never had a twinkie, not that I can remember.

The same way it worked out for EVERYONE. I'm really glad the icon is back and found a way to be successful again. I heard part of the shaping was changing the composition of the products to have a shelf life of almost 60 days, which is a little horrifying, but fuck it, everything causes cancer anyway.

Let me reiterate-when you get home drunk don't microwave a twinkie before you eat it. That fucking cream filling it like lava-I had more blisters in my mouth than a hooker during fleet week.

No, that was a myth, but it became more real as part of the strategy to reduce spoilage.

Instead of acknowledging the lack of competent leadership and exorbitant executive salaries as contributing to the company’s decision to close its doors, CEO Gregory Rayburn issued a statement saying, “We deeply regret the necessity of today’s decision, but we do not have the financial resources to weather an extended nationwide strike.” However, Rayburn and Hostess management claimed the strike would be responsible for closing plants even before there was a strike, and they had made plans to close plants whether or not workers accepted the Draconian wage and benefit cuts the company offered, or if they went on strike.
