Honda quietly (hah) introduced some sort of working prototype electric powered CR at the Tokyo Motor Show yesterday.

They are coming...

Cool, I'm warming up to electric for sure. Was on the fence with an Alta before they went south, all about battery life; power is all you could ask for.

Same, I was VERY close to getting the Alta. Wish I did, glad I didn't, sorta. But I'm pretty much sold on this Honda idea as long as it could be the same or less on price. HOPEFULLY less, like closer towards the CRF450R price.

I'm thinking sub $11k.

MSRP on 2019 CRF450R is $9300. And if they're utilizing the same rolling chasis, I'm hoping that it'll stay low. Alta had to start from scratch and attempt to recoup R&D costs, etc.

I rode today with four other Alta guys and discussed this. I wonder why Honda has not integrated the frame motor for structural integrity... electric powertrain has huge low end torque. I think 130 feet ponds at zero rpm.

Ah, Steve Jobs has made it impossible to correct misspellings. Seriously.

Well, it is just a prototype; it isn't uncommon to see powertrains shoved into any variety of frames/chassis during the R&D cycle.... Engineer the tech, and work on packaging and frame design later.

The blue coating on those fork lowers looks sharp with the red guards and gold uppers.
