Honda 400R

gone for now
It appears the engine is essentially a destroked 500.

Bore is 67, stroke 56.6. Compare that to the CBR500 @ 67x66.8 and the Ninja 400 @ 68.4x54.3.

It appears to be a destroked 500. I'm impressed that it makes more power than the N400 given the smaller bore. I'm surprised that it makes almost the same power as the 500 does.

If it's the same basic bike with a shorter stroke and pretty much the same power... I don't see a whole lotta reason to go 400 rather than 500. Torque is nice on the street.

its 40+lbs overweight compared to the Ninja400 because its based on the CBR500R. its cool to see Honda get in line with the new JuniorCup specs. but Kawi upping the spec on their 300 is probably a lot better than Honda detuning their 500.

Not surprising to me because the 500 is tuned to be an A2 license bike. They could extract a lot more power from that engine if they wanted.

the weight and the smaller frame of the Ninja 400 makes a huge difference.
