Hey everybody,

I'm reaching out to the motorcycle community with an invite for a holiday charity ride that I'm organizing for the children staying at the San Jose Family Supportive Shelter on December 14th (a Saturday).

Details are on the attached flyer and I'm happy to answer any questions that you have. Alternatively, anybody can call the RoadRider Motorcycle Accessories store (408-227-6936) for info or to sign up.

Sat, Dec 14th:

10:30 coffee at Road Rider
11:00 - 1:30 ride :ride
1:30 lunch at Mountain Mike's on E. Hamilton off 17
3:00 Family Housing Shelter at 692 N. King Rd, San Jose

No toys needed, just spare a $20 bill and we'll buy, wrap, and let YOU deliver them! :angel

The basic premise is simple, we're meeting at the RoadRider store for coffee and then going for a (fun and relaxed) ride to lunch, then to the Family Shelter location in San Jose to deliver helpful items and toys. We ask for a $20 donation 100% of which goes to cover costs for the helpful items and toys.

Thanks and Happy Holidays! :ride

P.S. - Please sign up by calling RoadRider Motorcycle Accessories (408-227-6936) so that I know that we've met our minimum quota of riders! (otherwise kids go without toys/helpful items :cry)

Thanks for you interest and I hope that both your wrist heals and that we see you there!

The shelter coordinator and I agreed that to avoid anybody getting 'better' gifts than the next person we would bring the approved toys for the riders to give to the kids. This will also handle the age differences, etc. Also, I will be providing some helpful items from the shelters wish list to spread out to the riders to give to the families as well.

Hi everybody,

We only have 2 people signed up so far. With 45 kids to bring smiles to I need about 40 riders otherwise there will be kiddos with sad faces. Please help us out by calling RoadRider at 408-227-6936 simply to get your name on our list so that we can order a gift for a child on your behalf.

Thank you!

Bump! The ride is this coming Saturday, Dec 14th. Hoping to get 45 people signed up so that each child there gets a Christmas gift (and hopefully some helpful items off the homeless family shelters wishlist). Each rider will be provided the gift items on location so that we can all give them directly to the families, face to face. I'm sure there will be some big smiles. If I was a kid and my family was homeless, I know that somebody going a little out of their way to bring me some cheer would be huge.

A side note, all the families at the shelter are there because they are genuinely working to get back on their feet. They have a neat program that helps families help themselves out of this situation.

Thanks again, and Merry Christmas!

RIDE ROUTE AND LUNCH LOCATION UPDATES:

THE RIDE will be split into two options, one for relaxed scenic cruising, and one for a half-spirited, slightly more technical loop. :thumbup

LUNCH: due to how many people the original location can accomodate, we're moving lunch to Mountain Mikes in Campbell (near 17 & Hamilton exit) where we get an area of our own. Shooting to arrive at 1:30, feel free to meet us there if you're not doing the ride.

See you at RoadRider at 10:30am (or wherever you join us at) on Saturday! :teeth

:bump for a great event!

Good to know riding is optional. And instead of a toy, a simple $20 donation? And you'll buy, wrap and let the riders deliver the toys? How cool! :thumbup

Yup! The contributions pay for the toys as well as household items from their wish list (these are NOT luxury items folks, things like toothpaste, etc.)

And we provide it all, it'll be at the event for you to hand out directly to the family/child that you are paired with!
