Hola Barfers!

Hey there Barfers - I'm Fiona and I'm a new(ish) rider in SF. I've been lurking around on Barf for the past month, reading through the awesome posts on the 1Rider and Riding Skills Forums. "The Pace" was amazing!

Some background - I got my M1 endorsement 7 years ago, but mostly I rode scooters. Then the Grom came along, and even if it felt a little bit tall for my shorty frame, it got me familiar with a clutch and the mechanics of motorcycle riding. I kept opting to ride my Vespa though, until this past October when I lucked into an older Suzuki TU250X - possibly the most beginner-friendly full size motorcycle on the planet. She's not exactly fast but she's forgiving and we've ridden almost 1,100 miles together over the past six weeks. Pic below.

Transitioning from a Vespa to a full sized (but mild-mannered) motorcycle has been full of surprises! Examples are engine breaking (motorcycle has this in spades and Vespa not so much) and the biker's wave (motorcycle has this in spades but mostly ignore Vespa riders - lol!). It's been totally fun and I'm already looking forward to getting my next motorcycle - a faster one this time!

Anyway, thanks for letting me be part of this forum. I hope I get to meet at least some of you when this interminable pandemic finally comes to an end!

Here's the bike -
Although the TU250x is a "49-state bike", this one's fully California street-legal by some DMV magic they told me about at the dealership.....

Welcome to BARF! A while back there was a Popeye the Sailor movie starring Robin Williams and a song, "The Problems of the Large" Someone needs to write "The Problems of the Short"

Glad you are enjoying your Suzuki -- that's mostly what matters!

Welcome to BARF!

I suggest taking an Intermediate Riding Clinic at your local rider training range. The IRC will boost your skills and confidence.

Welcome to BARF! Once you get the whole motorcycling thing down, height isn't much a big deal. I've never owned a bike I could flat foot. It's never been an issue.

Welcome! The 250 is an awesome bike! Those were the fleet bikes in my basic riding course, very agile and fun to ride!
