Historical BARF Traffic

So, I've been off-again, on-again a few times since 2008, but this time of being on-again, it seems like BARF has less traffic than it did a few years ago.

Is this true? Do we have data?

If it is changed, do we have data and / or speculation why it's changed?

I think you're right, and you can measure that crudely by looking at the number of threads in (for example) General over all time as opposed to the past year.

And I suspect it's not about barf, but more about web forums in general becoming less popular. There are more technologies for interacting now than there used to be, especially with the rise of mobile devices.

Would be interesting to see some studies of this.

Yeah, that's one thing I was noticing: General and the KS aren't filling up every day with new threads. (I.e. I can keep up with it nowadays, and I know I'm not any faster.)

If the reason is "people are using other social media", I'm all for it 'cause it would tend to keep much more of the "Yeah, whatever, Dude" and "Hey, look at me" elsewhere.

One thing web forums do much better than facebook, twitter, et al., is make it easier to find historical information. BARF has a lot of "collected content" that needs to be able to be found like it is.

It's mid-summer, peeps be riding right now. It will pick up in winter...

Lots of the shit-disturbers seemed to have gone away too....?

Lots of my favorite posters seem to be absent. Times change I guess.

This makes sense.

Some other forums I frequent are experiencing the same trend. Its not just BARF.

Really? Any clues about what's happening? It it actually improving quality at the other sites?

*That* part sounds good, but I think we need a few more to follow their lead.

3 million views a month? Wow, that sounds like a lot. Cool.

(Hmm... lesssee here... about, say 50 page views per day and I'm prolly in the busier half, so say, 30 page views per day, 20 days per month, 600 page views per month, 3,000,000 ÷ 600 = 5000 people per month.)

That's ten times what I was expecting! (Well, at least five times!)
