Highway 35 - Oil Slicks

I follow a photographer account that gets around the Santa Cruz mountains. He's mentioned 3 separate accidents involving oil slicks around 35, 9, and 84. Stay safe. He's also mentioned a few car accidents involving "guys in the underground scene" whatever that means.

Take heed peeps!!!!!!!

A few years ago we had a misguided a-hole dumping oil on purpose on my favorite road down in So Cal (GMR for those in the know) trying to get rid of us. Dude did most of this before the apex so less went down than he intended. Somebody got him on tape and soon there after it stoped.

I remember a story of somebody deliberately spilling oil. I heard that not too long ago. Can’t remember the details. Never fun.

Just came back from riding that area on 9 and 35, can't saw I saw any straight oil slick spots, but it was misting like hell, so it was slippery in general. Couldn't even see a car length in front of me at some spots. Be care of those oil slicks if they are there, I'll definitely keep my eyes open. Thanks for the heads up!

We had the same thing in the East Bay on Pinehurst and Redwood a few years ago.

On Bolinas-Fairfax Road about a year ago, I found what must have been an intentional spill. Fortunate that there was just enough road to waggle out of a crash.
Sheriff said there had been a few bicyclists down up there in recent months, all caught by some asshole leaving oil traps.

A month or so ago I took a ride up Hamilton and there was a LONG line of oil the last leg of the trip up. Wonder if it was the same culprit at this offender

Was on 35 by Alice's and Page Mill Vista: northbound noonish and southbound 6ish. No oil spills observed.

That's such a good road... it's really sketchy though even without oil spills if its rained recently and been windy... nothing like wet redwood tree debris to give you a good slip and slide :wow
