Just exploring the one route I had not yet explored in the Sierras.. Kaiser Pass.

Started by riding up to Shaver Lake on Friday.

Rode right down onto the sand by the boat launch:

Saturday morning, we wake up and it's... chilly!

Luckily it warmed up 10 degrees within a few miles. I found a combination of paved and gravel roads that took us down to Pine Flat .. then took Blackrock Rd up to Wishon Reservoir.

From Wishon we went up to the White Bark Vista at 9500'!

We continued down Kaiser Pass all the way to Edison Lake. I must admit the road quality was wearing on me. The lake was so low we were able to ride out to areas that would normally be way underwater.

As for Sunday, I had originally planned on riding Mammoth Pool Rd/Beasore Rd/etc... but then I learned that even though Yosemite was closed, they were still allowing through traffic... so we went for it! I try to avoid the National parks generally because of all the traffic & speed enforcement... didn't have to deal with either today!

Here's a video of Blackrock Rd:

My fear of heights would preclude my taking that road with that gorgeous scenery! :|

I can handle Ebbetts/Carson/Sonora/Monitor etc. but now way could I deal with those dropoffs without losing my mind. :laughing

I love the drop offs, The scenery is stunning, where they are.

Dirt bike riding,..There was one place in Idaho, a narrow ledge on a shear rock face on a mountain,
that said one wrong move would be the last one, I'd ever make...Though.

I love these ride reports. Some day would like to do one. No wind protection, and all the traffic, I feel my ride is done once I get out of the bay area, lol. Great pics thanks for posting
