Hey rock collectors

Need some help identifying this thing. My mom's aunt gave it to her many years ago, pretty much been handed down several times. Now my kiddo has it.

What you say?

Is it magnetic?
Weight to size?
Looks metamorphic, but what the hell do I Know.
Send it to one of our many Universities, that is what I do.

Has bad taste
2nsane, you may be able to find an online mineral classification key (dichotomous key) to help ID that thing.

If it's pyrite and you do a streak test, it will leave a grayish-greenish mark. The color of the streak doesn't always match the rock or mineral color.

It's layers along with crystals are like some types of Stalactites. One of the variations of a Black Goethite.
