Hey Ken!

Just wanted to say, your peeps are WAY COOL! I've never felt so welcome into such a large group of people. You and your guys also did an AWESOME job of organizing and keep the group together.

Also, a special thanks to all the ladies in your group. In my past experience, usually when I'm new to a large group of people, the women are not very welcoming (you don't count CBR Vixen, you were friendly the first time I met you too :) ). Anyways, all the ladies in your group were really nice and friendly.

Thanks again for inviting us along. I had a great time and would love to ride along again sometime. :D

Great ride Ken, more organized that I thought it would be. It was cool meeting your people, they made everyone feel welcome. Good to finally meet Glen, and to see Steves new ride. :D
We'll have to do it again!!!!

I did a count on the # of bikes in the beginning and it was about 57, but then like 10 more bikes showed up, so we had like almost 70 bikes total. SWEEEEEEEET.

hey everyone!!
Im glad everyone had fun. Holy cow...almost 70 bikes..i guess my first estimate was pretty close when steve and i were talking in Capitola. Its too bad i was held up at the back of the pack all day i wanted to ride with you guys and goof off. But atlas...duties call and sacrifices have to be made for the betterment of the group. I just want to thank everyone from BARF ( Kathy, Melissa,William,Steve, conrad, and Glen) for comming out and supporting 5150's second official group ride. I hope this event will bring you back for another event in a few weeks.

Kathy: the girls that are with us are awesome. They're a very sweet bunch. If they had ignored you, i would have been surprised. :D Im glad you made some new friends, and im sure that they do look up too you and Melissa for the fact that you two are the first female riders besides nancy who can keep up with the boys. Much respect to you two.

Steve...your bike rocks!!!!!! cant wait till you break it in..You will be unstoppble at highway 9

William..thanks for the bike count and the support. I hope that since we live close to each other we can go ride more often. Everyone is welcome to come to Union City to hang out . most people use that spot as a meeting point, and an eventual end point before heading their seperate ways. You guys are more than welcome to come and hang out. Thanks again!

ps: does anyone who was taking pictures mind if we get a copy of the pics? If you were using film, the webmaster has the bombest film scanner. Ok let me know thanks.

Ken - you and your crew put together one hell of a ride! I know how tough it is to keep a small group together -- I can't believe how well you guys did w/ 60+!!

It's pretty interesting to see how the public (and police) react to that many riders on the road. You and your boyz' enthusiasm was awesome. It seemed like you knew everyone - how can you possibly keep track of all those people!

Too bad you missed Instance's tank surfing and skitching on the way home. :D :laughing :D :laughing

Thank you Ken, and all of 5150 Sign me up for the next one already!

Ken & Steve,

Sounds like you had a great time. I decided to go to Alice's instead. The parking lot was completley full. There must have been 100 motorcycles there. Good thing you avoided it.

I did end up hooking up with a small group and went to Davenport for lunch. Trying to keep up with a couple of R1's was a lot of fun... :D

After I get off work Wednesday morning, I'm off for the rest of the week till the following Monday night. I plan to spend the majority of it riding (if the weather is good).

It was me!!! :twofinger

Again, the ride was great. I was amazed by the organization of the group too. Like Steve said, you guys did a great job keeping it in order. Maybe next time we can find a place for you and your boys to do your thing so we can all watch. (that sounded WAY too dirty) I mean...stunting... :D

I missed all the good stuff I guess...I was too far in the back I suppose.

When Instance did that skitch though, I could smell his burned shoe!! :laughing :laughing

Will, Melissa, Kat, Steve...good riding with you guys today too. :D

Later

You're very welcome! and you have been added to the list indefinitely!
Its alot of hard work to have this many bikes controlled on group rides. It comes from lots of planning weeks in advance, and mostly its the riders themselves that are the main deciding factor. No matter what you say or do, if the riders do not listen to you, then everything will go to shambles. I dont know everyone on the group rides, but the way i look at it is, if you're a rider, you are one of the boys, and you will have my respect as a rider. My boys and I are riders , and thats all that matters. We love to ride, and we love to ride with other people, so when a group ride comes along, we look at it as our duty to make sure that everyone has a good time and that everything goes smoothly. But darnit!! i wanted to see Instance skitching! I didnt even get to stunt at all except for one time on 880 when this car full of girls asked me to do a wheelie for them :laughing Wolf and Andy i hope you will be able to make it on the next ride with us.

ps: i cant keep track of everyone..i just act like i do.. hehe. Glen, you didnt get to see one of my boys do a tank slap on the way there did you? I heard about it when we got to Capitola. that was crazy dude! when we got back to Union city, i was mentally drained..hahaha but its ok, it was for a good cause. Ride safe everyone!! Till the next event!

Geez I take terrible pictures - why are my eyes always closed??!! :laughing :laughing

Hey Glen, remind me next time to snap some w/ you in 'em. I'm sure we'll have bazillions to browse, but it kinda sucks when you're the first to post 'em and you're not in 'em!

Hi Patrick,

The roads were pretty good for the most part. A little wet on 84 and still some sand on the less traveled twisty parts on Pescadero and China Grade.

On Pescadero, there was the only downed motorcycle I saw all day, it was right where the sand was. It was a yellow Ducati. I hope the person is not hurt.

Looking forward to some good riding with you. Let me know when your going out and I'll meet you at the corners.

Missed out on this one , how about this weekend ?
Looks like you all had fun.

status on the down rider from another site: Sorry don't know how to link

Heads Up: The Real Story.

I was with "that poor soul" on Sunday...

FYI - The skid marks you refer to and the groove dug into the road were caused by a prior accident.

I was the lead rider... While I agree it's the rider’s responsibility to judge speeds etcetera the accident was a product of less experience versus not riding appropriately.

Anthony was attempting to give bicycle a wide berth down the hill prior to the corner in question... As he approached the corner he realized he was not in the right position to make this blind left turn. He changed lines to make the corner but may have over corrected. He ended up to far to the right and in the poor traction zone. As the bike leaned the front pushed and lost some traction. Anthony stood the bike up but had nowhere to go. He caught the soft shoulder...

His 748 hit the berm and got airborne, over the edge of the ravine, the nose fairing hit a tree the bike spun backwards launching him down the ravine about 40 feet. The bike came to rest just above Ant's head.

As Anthony lay in the ravine he called for help and the bicyclist was first on scene, then a couple in SUV, then Sergio, then me. As we all deployed our cell phones no one had coverage. Without hesitation Sergio was down that ravine at Anthony's side within 1 minute. Serg gave me a quick triage of Ants condition; I remounted my Ducati and went for the YMCA camp payphone. 10 minute round trip to the payphone and I was back. A few minutes later the Sheriff arrived and volunteer Fire/Paramedics were on scene.

80 minutes later Ant was stabilized and transported to Stanford via ambulance.

Let me say that the SMC/La Honda fire department was awesome. They did a fine job of getting Ant out and transported. Many of these folks are bikers. In fact one sheriff told me he has a 996!

This situation was not a speed issue per se but really of training. Though I had just met Anthony Sunday morning I observed someone who was very conscientious about riding and from others accounts my perception was right. We all make mistakes... I have made the same mistake myself but to less consequences.

When I left the Hospital Anthony was in good sprits. He has a broken right Femur, two broken arms and a broken pinkie. Quite frankly he a lucky son-of-a-bitch! He had all the right gear including a brand new set of Teknic leathers and back protector on their maiden ride.

His 748 will of course be a total loss. I went back to the scene in my car late Sunday and retrieved his leathers that had been cut from his body... and another souvenir for him when he gets out of the hospital... His (perfect condition) gas tank from that 748.

Now about that sand... I saw a Harley crash right in front of the store at Alice's at 5pm. Lets get on Cal Trans.
