Good for you, Lucy. Proud to be your client.

When we can gather again, I’ll get the pizza for the pizza party.

Congratulations!

At first glance I thought it might be a crazy thing to do, but then I looked at my own history, and realized I had done something similar.

There I was, perfectly comfortable fixing bikes with a service writer/manager firmly wedged between me and the customers, when I realized that just fixing stuff was not enough, and I wanted the contact with customers. So I opened a shop, and the first thing I did was decide to turn down jobs that didn't fit certain parameters. I looked for bikes where I could successfully make the repairs; I looked for customers who could afford to pay the amount necessary to repair their entire bike; and I avoided folks with negative customer attitudes, and concentrated on folks who appreciated good honest effort.

Good luck, and please let me know if I can assist with any vintage 70's, 80's knowledge on Japanese bikes.

Cheers!

Count on that! It's the perfect place to have a party and damn do we all need one! :port

Congratulations!! It's always exciting to see someone start a new venture. I'll do the best to support. Need valve check on 1200GS LC. Something you'd like to do?

Yes I would! :thumbup

Thank you for the guidelines and offer to help! Much appreciated.

Congrats! Maddevill let me know about this new shop. Also, are you the same person that helped me with a valve adjustment on a blue ninja 250 at Moto Guild like, 2 years ago?

Anyhow, been wrenching a ton since then and if it was you, it was awesome to see a woman as a mechanic/teacher :) Let me know if you need a helping hand. Always keen to learn more :)

Bumping to say that I just got some work done and Lucy did an excellent job, very excited to have an awesome new independent shop in the neighborhood. Thanks again!

Congrats.

FWIW You may not like this part, paperwork. Yet that is an important part of small business ownership. QuickBooks is inexpensive and easy.
AND in my experiences for a one person shop owner, is to watch the amount of time not wrenching. A wireless telephone headset you can wear while on the shop floor can increase productivity.

Again congrats !!!

No kidding! I'm on point with both of those suggestions. My kid gave me some airpods for xmas and they have changed everything! I'm trying to become more disciplined about when i actually sit down to do the administrative BS. Work a little, phone call, distracted by stuff on my desk leaves me spinning. Especially now, during this first month, with Covid slowing down all things bureaucratic there is still a ridiculous amount and I find myself doing a lot of it at home actually. I'm addicted to QB :laughing but by next month I better have established some routine and balance.

Iirc, you did the dyno tuning on my wife’s 999 street fighter back the in the day and did a wonderful job working around the flat spots created by the gutted exhaust - any chance you’re still doing dyno work?

Alas! Those days are over for me. These days it's all Rexxer reflashes or a custom tune from Marc at Factory Pro. I have been considering getting a Rexxer unit to do the reflashes, but in the meantime, you could check with Desmoto to see if they still do it.

This site sponsor loves it, congratulations and much support and wishes for a "long as you want it" run.

congratulations!

sorta, maybe kinda. there is a line between "occasional mention of one's business" and "stepping on the BARF sponsor's toes" and i don't know much about it

it's Budman's call i'd send him a PM

Many congratulations Lucy! Another satisfied customer here! Best of luck. Really like the idea of you and Super Plush sharing the space, can imagine the location becoming a nice MC hub and hopefully being co-located will benefit you both.

Makes sense, I know there’s a lot tied up in dyno work - good luck with the business, and glad I’ve got someone trustworthy to recommend if folks need work done in SF now!

Good news! Lucy did some work on my Husquette last fall and I was quite pleased. I’m planning to take the Tiger to Lucy for rally riding prep!
