Help - removing plastic/rubber burns on header/exhaust?

I pushed my hot bike into the dark garage last night and didn't see the car cover on the ground which melted black right onto my beautiful header pipes
What can I do?

SOS pad on cold pipes.

Be careful. SOS might remove/scratch the finish. Formica samples are great for scraping of stuff, better than a credit card.

Yes, Goof Off. But tape a piece of rag soaked with the stuff over the burnt stuff overnight. Or wrap in foil (over soaked rag). Saves a lot of elbow grease.

I had a similar problem when I dropped a green microfiber on my hot headers...had melted green on them..after a quick google, I used brake fluid and it came off..then take it outside and start it..it will smoke

Are the headers chrome or stainless? How perfect looking do you need them to be?

Acetone? Try strong solvents? Same as above. Soak a rag, let it sit on it. See if it gets soft.

Superfine steel wool (0000) and WD40 has worked for me.

I finally got around to it. I had a jar of old brake fluid so rubbed some on several times within a two day span and the stuff just started peeling off.
I'll use some super fine steel wool on it tomorrow.

I did this with EZ off oven cleaner, and a plastic scraper for the few stubborn bits. Went pretty quick.
