Help: car has no electricity

Calling car experts: My car has absolutely ZERO electricity, can't even open the doors with remote clicker. I am pretty sure the battery is good, just drove it a couple of day ago and it had always started on the first crank. I pulled all fuses and they appear to be alright but I don't have any tools to actually test them. What else to look at? Try to avoid getting it towed to a shop just to find out a bad fuse or something simple that I could fix myself. 2005 Scion XB.

Thanks.

If it has absolutely no power then it has to be something with the battery. Either dead battery, bad cable connection or blown fuse. Try jumping it.

Guess it could be fried computer but not likely.

I'd try a jump first. Drove it a couple days ago? Sounds like something like a dome light was left on and drained the battery.

Alternator? If you jump it, will it start?

I thought about jumping it but my cable and charger are in the trunk, which I can't open because the clicker does not work. It cannot be open with key. Will try to borrow a jumper cable tomorrow. Thanks.

In the absence of jumpter cables you can always have a friend temp-swap batteries.

Also, depending on the vehicles, there are often fuses under the hood. I know, because I blew a bunch of "main" fuses on my pickup many years ago jumpstarting my sister-in-law's POS Tempo. If the battery is good but you still have no power, check for those.

Check the basics first. If you don't have the tools, find someone who does. Looking at a fuse is not testing it. You need an ohm meter or a 12 volt test light. Load test the battery and inspect both ends of both battery cables for clean, solid connections. Get the wiring diagram and look for all fuses and fusible links. Not all circuit protection is centrally located. You can have a couple places to check.

it's an XB, why can't you just reach over the back seat? It's not like the trunk is separated from the rest of the cabin.

Oh snap I feel dumb.
I thought the door would block the trunk floor board cover. Tried it and finally bent the cover just enough to open it. I got the cable now and will try to jump it later today. Thanks.

One time I had a gsxr that I would have trouble starting and the lights would flicker. I assumed it was a serious issue and started stripping parts off. It was a loose battery cable.
Yeah, check the simple stuff first.

I jump started the car and nothing. So I went back and looked in the battery/fuse block area more carefully and finally found a piece of frayed wire among the bunch coming out of the fuse block. Fixed it and voila. Thanks all!!

Glad people were able to help you out on this. Another good resource for DIY stuff is youtube. They have damn near everything on there. If you can think of it someone has posted a how to video on it.
