Helmet Lock

I just bought a 2018 Triumph Street Triple R, but there's no built in system to lock my helmet to my motorcycle. What recommendations do you have? I would really like a solution where I could have a second helmet on the bike for a passenger while I'm riding.

lots of options for adding a helmet lock. The easiest is to see if there is a hook under the seat that can catch the d-ring of your helmet and then put the seat back on, thus locking the helmet to the bike with the seat.

No loop/hook under the seat? Add a hook to a bolt under the seat.

That isn't practical or desirable?

Get a bicycle cable lock and lock the helmet to the bike with the bike cable.

Add a after market helmet lock to the bike.

I have even see folks find a padlock large enough to go around a part of the frame near the seat and use that as a helmet lock.

Lots of options, the above are only a few.

Find something hook like under the seat and make a small cable with loops on each end.

Loop it around the chin bar and then hook the end under the seat, locks helmet up good without needing extra keys or locks.

Thanks for the suggestions. I tried using a helmet lock carabiner and attached it to the subframe, but the passenger helmet slid back wile riding and rubbed up against my wheel causing some nasty abrasions.

I'll try and see if there are aftermarket systems or look into the cable style padlock.

I've never been a fan of leaving a helmet on the lock when riding, and was assuming you were trying to keep your helmet secure while parked.

Especially SF where scumbags will cut the strap to the helmet just to have a shiny useless helmet. Or take a piss on it.

Nice helmets should be brought inside, not left outside locked to the bike.

I usually take my helmets with me when I leave the bike. But if I want to drive a few miles to bring a helmet for a passenger, how should I transport it?

Back in the day, we would fasten the helmets strap, then thread that thru our belt so the extra helmet was on our hip. You have to go back a couple loops so the helmet doesn't creep forward, the pant loop would keep it held back .

Of course back then, we wore manly leather belts and Levi's , not hemp or recycled water bottle belts and natural woven linen pants. :afm199

Usually, I do like you do: take it with me. Sometimes it works better to leave the helmet with the bike.

Get yourself a topcase that you can store the helmet in. Helmet remains locked to the box in a safe place that it is not going to get in the way when you are riding and is always available should you your passenger have need of it. Also handy for locking gloves and other small items.
