How much helmet fading is normal in your opinion? I bought this helmet in September and now it looks like this. Have you ever had a helmet fade this much in 9 months(really about 7 but was out of country with it so nothing I could do about it till now). Have you ever had a helmet fade this much in such a short time? Do you think this would be considered a manufacture defect and they will replace it? My last Scorpion is 5+ years old and looks nothing like this. (I have talked to shop I bought from and their contacting Scorpion). Just wanted to get some opinions.

Photo hard to see but it's clearly 2 different colors on all yellow sections on the top side.

I've owned a few hi viz scorpion and kabuto helmets all of them faded drastically in a years time. But most people don't ride a couple hours a day five days a week. Didn't surprise me much, but wish they wouldn't fade so much. My kabuto was almost white in about 1 year.

Wow, 5 minutes after posting this I got a call from local shop, Scorpion is replacing it. No hassle at all, they are standing behind their product and I should have a new one next week.

Not to belittle your helmet but any helmet $300 MSRP I wouldn't expect much. I have/had Shoei and Arai helmets, they never faded.

Nonsense, on both your price point comment and your Arai comment.

There are plenty of perfectly good $300 helmets, and many even cheaper than that. And Arai says right up front that some of their helmets will fade: "Notice: Fluorescent and/or bright finishes fade over time and exposure to sunlight. This is normal and is not covered by warranty."

Please note that link is to a helmet model that starts at about $850.

That said, it's nice that Scorpion replaced the helmet. :thumbup

Scorpion is good people. I had a pair of gloves with the stitching unraveling after about a year and they took a straight up return on them no questions asked.

Hi-vis fades easily, unfortunately. I'm staring at my high vis helmet that has faded over ~2 years.

Really?

I've worn Bell RS1 and Rs2's for years now. They are "cheap" and never faded or had any issues...

Also, the helmet in OP's photos is a flat black colored helmet, right? Flat colors usually don't have as much clearcoat as glossy colors do.

I'm not saying it won't nor did I say they are bad. I'm just saying I wouldn't be surprised.

Relax.
