Hello,

I'm new to the Bay area and to riding. I've ridden a little back in India but that was over a decade ago. Looking forward to get a bike and riding here.

You found the right place to share the love of two wheels.

Welcome to the Bay Area as well.

Lots of info to peruse here. Check out the training and 1Rider forums specifically.

Good luck finding a bike and getting back on two wheels :ride

Welcome,

It's a very good idea to get some California Motorcycle training, we have many large SUV's sporting more danger, and alot of rules of the road too here I think.

In some ways it's less of a free for all, but not always when on two wheels.

Thanks everyone for the welcome. I have registered for MSF classes in September, I'm looking to buy a bike in October. This maybe a silly question, I wanted to know how/where I could search for older posts by topic in the forums. I am sure the "Which is a good beginner bike?" has been answered multiple times. I don't want to reinvent the (motorcycle) wheel so to speak.

Keep in mind your first bike's primary purpose is to be a tool to learn to ride with.
With that in mind, your first bike should not be too tall, too heavy, too powerful, too expensive or have too much emotional baggage (your dream bike or you inherited your favorite uncle's bike...) as all of this things get in the way of learning how to ride.
A good used bike is fairly inexpensive and, if you do it right, can be sold for about what you pay for it after 6-12 months and thus you basically rented it for free.
