Hear click when braking

Recently I went to Motoguild to learn how to replace my front brake pads. Installation went without any problems, the new pads are EBC HH. They brake fine and I'm in the process of breaking them in by not making any abrupt stops for the first 100 miles. It was last weekend. So far so good. However, I've noticed a slight change in my bike in the last couple of days. Basically, when I brake, I squeeze the brakes progressively to load the front wheel. When the bike stops and front end lifts back up I hear/feel a pretty noticeable click from some area down by the wheel. I tried to replicate it on a turned off bike, but no such luck. However, when I ride, I can get it pretty consistently. I'm trying to understand what it might be.
Even though brake change was a recent change done to the front wheel, I don't think it's the brake because the caliper is attached to the fork below the suspension, so suspension rocking up and down shouldn't really affect it, no? The bolts are torqued to spec, and caliper seems to sit pretty solidly in place. The other two possibilities I can think of is my front tire skipping a bit, because it's pretty worn out and maybe something with the suspension - I rode in a pretty heavy rain, maybe some water got into the forks and is causing mischief?

I know it's a pretty tall order, but do you guys have any ideas on what this might be?
Thanks,
Luka

Is there any play in your front brake discs, if they are full floating rotors. Possibly the buttons from the brake discs have play in them. Maybe they are clicking when you finish braking, and then the front end unloads.

I notice this the first time I brake after pulling out of a spot (reversing while braking). Basically it is the pads sliding slighting and clicking on the caliper. This is only as I just barely touch the brake lever. Yours sounds more like the steering head bearings.

this, right here. seen it 100's of times. if you want to check the steering bearings push the wheel against a wall & see if you feel the same "click". to check the rotor buttons just grab the rotor & try to move it back & forth, radially.

One of the causes of clicking is axial movement of the pads when braking. They move back and forth ( back to front and vice versa) a few mm. and that's enough to click.

Thanks for your suggestions! The rotors seem pretty solid, I will check the bearings next, just need to figure out a good cheap way to lift my front wheel off the ground.

Put on kickstand. Pull up and back and balance it. Have a friend jiggle front wheel. Or just feel how loose it is.
