Health Insurance gap

FLCL?
I will be without health insurance for a week. How exactly does that work? I think I can get Cobra, but it's $$$, and I think I have to do it for a month?

Also I will be out of the country. Would just getting travel insurance be enough? I think allianz travel insurance offers primary travel insurance.

Where are you travelling? Your destination (international?) might actually have decent healthcare coverage--even for visitors

You have 60 days to opt in to COBRA at which point it is effective from the date your employer sponsored coverage ended. If something happens then opt in, otherwise just play it by ear.

So choices are do nothing, try to sign up for Cobra/California coverage which might not work since I will be out of the country?

Buy travel health insurance and just don’t come home if you get sick?

Hope you enjoy your new life.
