Health insurance for track days?!?

I admit it's been a few years since I've been on the track, is this a requirement now for most track the providers that they all require health insurance to attend their track day?

I don't think it's a requirement, however you're an idiot if you ride without it. If you can't afford health insurance, you probably can't afford a motorcycle and certainly can't afford trackdays.

due to the impressive thought given to and intelligence behind Obamacare you can't actually get it now even though it is legally required.... Ass clowns... You have to wait for Novembers enrollement period to enroll to start in Jan. Right now your best bet is to get Assurant Health short term plan, and pray to god you don't crash out in a track day given their vague exclusion clause that I quote from, and be prepared to do battle if you do crash and get injured:

"Treatment or services required due to Injury received while engaging in any hazardous occupation or other activity, including, but not limited to: Participating, instructing, demonstrating, guiding or accompanying others in parachute jumping, hanggliding, bungee jumping, flight in an aircraft other than a regularly scheduled flight by an airline, racing any motorized or nonmotorized vehicle, rock or mountain climbing, parkour, and extreme sports. Also excluded are treatment and services required due to Injury received while practicing, exercising, undergoing conditioning or physical preparation for any such activity."

Also get the Enloe/Calstar and Reach helicopter coverage

So do they require you show proof? Just write down a policy number or what? What are they looking for specifically?

And you asshats derailing the thread. I have specific questions. Not some "let's play politics crap." Go to the kitchen sink for that. Stop making broad assumptions and haut answer my questions.

Thank you,

I don't believe it's a requirement. It has not been for Keigwins and PTT. But, what Afm199 said.

Stupid Obamacare assclowns have been dictating their "open enrollment" periods to me since I first got healthcare in the 90s. :twofinger

Now I'm curious too...do they require proof of it like an ID card or policy number? Or is it just a box you check on the form saying "yes I've got insurance"?

Has anyone been to a track day recently that can answer this for the op?(and me)

I just attended a Z2 day. They ask if you have health insurance, and who the healthcare provider is, with a blank for the name. No, they did not ask me to show proof... it's on an honor system. That means, they're trusting me not to lie to them.

Z2 is the only provider I've seen that has you fill out a form listing your healthcare provider. They don't actually check a card or anything, so you could write down whatever you want.

Just looked at the fine print in my policy (gap coverage until open enrollment I missed the first round) and it says:
"Injuries resulting from participation in any form of skydiving, scuba diving, auto racing, bungee jumping, hang or ultra light gliding, parasailing, sail planing, flying in an aircraft (other than as a passenger on a commercial airline), rodeo contests or as a result of participating in any professional, semi-professional or other non-recreational sports including boating, motorcycling, skiing, riding all-terrain vehicles or dirt-bikes, snowmobiling or go-carting."

What gets me about this is the statement "non-recreational". What I interpret that to mean is that if it's for money or prizes it's not covered. Otherwise it's recreational, right? So I think track days are covered.

Would love to hear from somebody who has personal experience here.

Yes, you can lie and perjure yourself at all providers.
