Simple poll, just wondering if/how many trackdays you all have done (racing counts)

I see a lot of people give advice on safe riding, performance riding, etc... but just wondering how many of us actually have been out before.

Trackdays have taught me a lot about riding, and a lot of money later, taught me it's not worth going fast on the street. What have you learned?

I'm not really one of those people who goes into a new rider/track rider thread and says haayyeee, you should ride like this. I'm no sage and there's enough (over)opinionated BARFers that will do that. And I teach myself for the most part by reading books and bringing a list of things to work on at the next trackday I do.

Love the track! Haven't done anywhere near as many as Paul, but more than a couple dozen at this point, and now I'm racing.
If you've been riding awhile, then get out and do a track day. Going to a provider like ZoomZoom (aka "Z2"... see my sig line for link) who has amazing instructors who are there to really work with you can give you more improvement in your riding in one day at the track than 6 months of regular riding out on the street.
I still work with instructors at every track day. Going to a track day and trying to figure it out yourself is mostly playing around, and certainly isn't going to garner the results that working with an instructor will.
I think every rider would benefit from time spent on the track. Not to mention the whole "go as fast as I want without getting a ticket" thing... :teeth

If I was going to do a poll like that, I would have put it in the track section. I am mainly looking for how many people don't ever plan on doing one, and those who have, if they have came back or not. If you have done more than 5, you probably have done A LOT more than 5 (like me). Doesn't really matter the exact number at that point...

I see a lot of riders on the street, who think they are fast, or who think they should be giving advice. I was just comparing that against a sprotbile based forum, to see even then, how many of us have spent time and effort out at the track.

Thanks

Track Days is referring to running around road courses but in a non-competitive manner I presume. For racers that is not much of an attraction. We need to race to see if we can run with the best. I'm too competitive not to try to do my best with the best racers in my class (a controlled rule class). Everything else is just bench racing with some on track lap time.
Track days have value as a warm up to starting racing, but it's kinds like an appetizer without a main course. I much prefer the real deal. Unfortunately my medical status has made racing impossible. No worries, I have tons of memories to rerun in my mind and I enjoy my casual street riding.

For me, track days are practice, because I pretty much suck at this point. I can spend the day at the track, no pressure, working on specific corners, improving specific issues, and then get out and race and see improvements. Can't exactly take the li'l ninjette out on the street to practice...

I haven't but I would like to sometime after I finish up my first year or so of riding. It just looks like too much fun.

DOOOO EEEEEET!!!!! Most fun you'll have on a bike!!!

Two so far. Plan to do more when my bike is working again, and I can find some kind of reliable transport there. :(
