Woman brings miniature horse on plane flight.

An American Airlines passenger took her miniature horse - a service animal called "Flirty" - on a flight from Chicago, Illinois, to Omaha, Nebraska, on Saturday.

Photos and video posted to social media by bemused but delighted passengers showed the horse, a 27-inch-tall mare, walking around the airport, passing through airport security, and sitting quietly in a foot well during the flight.

Flirty's owner is Abrea Hensley, who sufferers from depression, severe anxiety, and PTSD, and is allergic to dogs, the most common service animal choice.

This is a bit much, IMO.

That's what we get when we do dumb favoritism stuff, like we've been doing since forever with religion. All it does is point out how dumb the original idea was.

I flew this Thanksgiving and the airport felt a lot more like a sidewalk cafe than an airport. Dogs freaking everywhere! Saw a couple of cats too. For the most part all the animals were pretty well trained. With regard to the horses deal, I've heard (and this could be total b.s.) that they're better than dogs because they're sturdy enough to hold a full human's weight and not get hurt, as opposed to a dog.

I don't really care all that much. I'm not about to bring my animals on a plane, but for the most part, I don't mind other people's. I guess I just sorta miss the days when flying was an event. Nowadays you see people literally wearing their pajamas and slippers in the airport and the plane feels more like Noah's Ark. Coincidentally, I also took a train on this trip and really enjoyed it. I loooooooathe flying. I can't decide if I hate airports or hospitals more. It's toss-up.

I think we already had this exact discussion.

FYI emotional support animals have no legal status and can be denied anywhere. Only actual service animals have legal rights.

Also I'd complain if I was on a fucking airplane with a fucking horse if I smelled it or heard it. I don't give a shit about the emotionally disabled/impaired individual.

.

It looks like then that the situation has definitely worsened.

Probably a fad of service or comfort animals has brought such increased numbers of them, that now everyone notices!!!!

I can't remember what mall i was at, but they allowed dogs only if they were wearing a pet diaper.

When i take my dog anywhere, i carry a backpack with all the necessary tools to clean up after them. After seeing the diapers, i might just start doing that too now.

OP. That's a rhetorical question. Right? :laughing

The problem with human beings, especially now after decades of the 'more sensitive' ones getting catered to, it that there will always be a bunch of people who will take advantage of any rules to impose their wills on the people around them to stroke their own ego.

Meanwhile, the small handful of people for whom the rules got created for in the first place are getting trampled by the abusers and their needs will also get trampled over time.

The fetishization of pets creeps me the fuck out. It's so cringey when some weirdo refers to their pet as a son or daughter.

I was watching Trevor Noah last night and he said something to the effect of “The more progressive America becomes, the more it resembles a third world country.”

Puts it in perspective when you think about livestock on flights, designated homeless camping areas, bums pissing and shitting on the sidewalk in SF, etc...

Weeeeeeeell hang on a second, all these things do is point out how fake a claimed principle actually is.

Sure.... The concept of emotional support animals is silly, IMO. But without context and in a comedy setting, Trevor Noah’s comment was funny.

That's why I don't think they've gone too far until the question changes to whether or not it should be a thing. Until then, no, they have not gone too far. Quite the opposite. We need cows on leashes in starbucks blasting diarrhea all over the place.

People let fucking horses onto planes yet every few months I see a super condescending article about flying that says tells us not to recline our seats, regardless of our leg size, don't bring food from the terminal on the plane (it might smell), don't get up very often (to reduce dying from a blood clot), and for god's sake, flying is an EVENT so why are you wearing comfortable clothing??
