Have Documents, will travel?

Hey BARFamily,

Just thought I would open it up for folks that are curious and give others an opportunity to share experiences. I submitted my passport for renewal in in the U.S. Mail, certified and registered on 06/22/20.

I just got my renewed passport back today 08/28/20, which I honestly thought would take a lot longer due to the back up right now.

2 Months isn't that bad, keep it in mind if your docs need an update. Let us know if you are having a different experience.

Now if I can just find someplace that will accept an American passport right now....

A friend of mine said that Croatia is letting anyone in.

OMG! We land at Croatia, pillage the countryside, commandeer a vessel at the shore and pillage Italy for wine and delicious lunchmeats!

DUCATI NAUGHTY, ARE WE PIRATES NOW? ARE YOU WITH ME?

A few weeks ago I was looking for some local places that do a seafood boil. One of the places that google suggested was just over the border in Canada.

Now that's not that long of a drive from here. But it might as well be on the other side of the planet for the time being

My mother was Australian, and all her kids and grandkids have been scrambling to get their Aussie passports for better travel options.

:laughing Well, I tried to start a pleasant thread about Bureaucracy and Government Paperwork, but one response and I turned directly into an Eastern European pirate. Thank you from bringing the calm of despair into this.

Since we are talking about it now.

Croatia is on the list of 'open with restrictions.' They apparently require a negative Covid test 48 hours before you land.

Great minds. WILL YOU JOIN OUR CREW? :D

There is apparently a work-around. They let Americans through as long as you swear that you're just passing through on the way to Alaska. Just don't be like the idiot American who decide to fart around Banff National Park and got arrested by the Mounties.

Nah that won't fly (SEE WHAT I DID? DID YOU SEE IT?), he is not on this coast of Canada if I recall correctly.

I'm pretty sure they are only letting you get away with that shit in Washington.

I'm sure if I crossed at Niagra with that excuse, they'd just send me down the 49th parallel on the US side and tell me to try again in British Columbia. :rofl

Has Lake Ontario ever had a legitimate piracy? No time like the present!

Get a Covid blood test and you're in. We've got equipment down there and I may head that direction in a couple of weeks. Got to South Brazil: very safe, inexpensive and the folks are super nice! Oh, and get your Drone 107 pilots license.

It’s funny how we all have preconceived notions of how a country is going to be based on the famous people from there. I just saw all the supermodels from Brazil and had my hope high. I landed in São Paulo and was a bit underwhelmed. Then I went to Porto Allegre in Southern Brazil and learned where most of those supermodels came from.

Yeah, I agree. Southern Brazil is the place to be.

I’ve been wanting to get arrested by a Mountie for half my life. You’re telling all I had to do was go to a park?!

BTW give blood and the American Red Cross gives you a free antibody Covid test. Woot! Be a power red donor and you feel less crappy after. (I don’t weigh enough—you gotta be a decent sized gal to qualify, but it’s super easy for dudes). You use their mobile app and you get your test results pretty quick, plus you’re helping out. Pro-tip: do it at the latest time of day you can. Eat a giant steak and go to bed after. Drink a TON of water a couple of days before. I can fill a bag in less than 10 minutes and I’m outta there. After my juice and animal crackers of course. You can do this every 2 months. And your test results are on your phone...

Sent my passport in for renewal just last week. Interested in how this Mountie Pirate plan progresses. Hopefully I’ll have my authorization in time.:twofinger
