Consider the maintenance work or fixes that YOU need to do to the bike, and factor that into the price. It is ok to pay more for a bike that has had all of the maintenance work done to it recently, or pay less and get a bike that needs some work, but you must know this in advance and be ok with it.
    • Inspecting the bike: if you are not experienced yourself, have a mechanic or an experienced friend check the bike before making a purchase. Crashed bikes:This is even more important if you are buying a bike that is being sold at a cheaper price with damages that the buyer is required to fix. In these cases, doing a frame check that will show any frame/fork/geometry damages is HIGHLY recommended. Do NOT simply rely on the information that the seller is providing, even he/she may not be aware of all the problems. Have the crashed bike checked and know what you are getting into.
    • Clean title, Salvage title A clean title doesn't mean the bike is free of serious issues. A Salvaged title doesn't mean the bike may have any problems. Every case is different. Some bikes are seriously damaged in a crash, but an insurance claim is never made on them, so they still have a clean title. Some bikes have had mostly cosmetic damages in a crash, but the insurance company decided to pay off the bike and salvage the title rather than spending the money to fix it. Know what you are getting into and don't make any assumptions based on what the seller is telling you.
    • Registration: Know about the current registration status of the bike. Check with DMV if you have any questions about any possible back fees and other title/registration questions (out of state title, no title with bill of sales only, etc.) before purchasing the bike.

    • Comments within a sale thread should be on topic and educational. Aggressive critiques and inside jokes will not be tolerated.     • If you disagree with a price, keep it to yourself. The seller has set the price. If you don't like it, don't buy it and move on. If you really feel strongly about it, then PM the seller.

Harbor Freight folding trailer - SOLD

Asking $220. They're brand new on sale for $310 (which includes shipping) not assembled.

It's a folding trailer which makes for easy storage. I bought it off another BARFer about a year ago and I only used it twice. I'm only selling it because I won't be doing track days any time soon and don't need it.

Total mileage on this thing is probably under 400 miles, always stored inside. Registered, titled, all that good stuff. Load capacity is ~1000lbs.

It comes with the Harbor Freight wheel chock (not pictured, but you can see where it fits in the picture). I also added 4 eye-hooks on each corner for super easy tie-down points. I also wrapped all the wiring in some black plastic covering to help protect it. It will also come with a locking trailer hitch pin and a spare tire.

The only thing bad (ish) is that I wasn't sure if the previous owner packed the bearings, so I filled them up using the bleed nipples. I definitely filled it to capacity since it will occasionally drip some grease, but I wanted to be sure the bearings didn't overheat and lock.

Full disclosure: it's a pain to get the tongue off the ball. It seems to be a design flaw on these trailers.

I have the same trailer, the front bolt that attaches coupler to the trailer is probably too tight pinching the locking flange from releasing the ball. Try loosing the bolt a bit and it should release easily.

I had the same ball release issue. I fixed it.

You have to remove the nut that holds the spring underneath and remove that little pivoting "jaw". Then slightly bend both tabs inwards towards each other, I have circled it in red. It's pretty thick so pliers won't work very well. I elected to just use a hammer on both sides while it laid on the ground. That jaw's pivot pin is a little too short so it compresses the housing too much. I have not had a problem since. Works GREAT. I've got a few thousand miles on mine now.

BTW, killer deal. I'm seeing .... Wood alone is about $40. $10 in fasteners. Spare tire alone is about $45. $10 hitch lock. $30 wheel chock. $20 eye hooks. Then the hours to assemble. Oh and not sure what fees apply to transfer to a new owner but I know the initial cost at DMV is about $75.

Thanks for the suggestions on how to remove it easier. They should benefit the new owner, and judging by all the PMs I got already I won't have it for long.

The way I did it was to attach the tow hitch section containing the ball to the trailer before sliding it into the tow hitch. If I rotated the ball up enough it slid on and off easily.

Oh and there are two springs in there. One of them might have been crushed and no longer springy. Keep an eye on that nut. It can free spin if it is too loose. I recommend swapping to a nylock nut so you can fine tune it without worry of losing the nut and ultimately the trailer.
